I bet most of the people hating on this album were hoping for another Kill 'Em All/Ride the Lighting. You can't expect the guys to have as much hate and rage built up 25 years after the fact, hell I'm not even as angry as I was a few years ago.

If you are willing to put aside your preconceived notions of what a Metallica album should be I think you'll find its actually a pretty fucking rocking album. I just picked it up on the way home from work and haven't been able to stop listening to it. I love Trujillo's bass playing......big, fat, heavy, the way metal should be.

I even liked St. Anger minus Lars stupid fucking tin can snare drum (if they would remaster a real snare in there that album would kick fucking ass)

Give it a listen with an open mind and I think you'll find a heavy, interesting, not quite what you were expecting rocking fucking album.

I like it. The quality is sometimes annoying (it's audibly clipped on the recording), but aside from that, on a scale of Reload to Master of Puppets, it's definitely closer to "awesome".

I noticed that as well. I also like that James is a tad less gravely and a touch more melodic.

I love it the bass and the drums are rattling the house right now.

There was a thread about it and there were as many haters as supporters. I like it...All Nightmare Long might be my favorite off that album.

Hmmm... hafta schedule it for a download. Metallica is one of the few bands I refuse to ever pay to hear again.

I was hating in the other thread, but KROQ out here keeps blasting it, so I hear it from time to time, starting to grow on me, i'll admit it.
