I bet most of the people hating on this album were hoping for another Kill 'Em All/Ride the Lighting. You can't expect the guys to have as much hate and rage built up 25 years after the fact, hell I'm not even as angry as I was a few years ago.
If you are willing to put aside your preconceived notions of what a Metallica album should be I think you'll find its actually a pretty fucking rocking album. I just picked it up on the way home from work and haven't been able to stop listening to it. I love Trujillo's bass playing......big, fat, heavy, the way metal should be.
I even liked St. Anger minus Lars stupid fucking tin can snare drum (if they would remaster a real snare in there that album would kick fucking ass)
Give it a listen with an open mind and I think you'll find a heavy, interesting, not quite what you were expecting rocking fucking album.
