Madden 09

I just got this game for Xbox 360. (A little behind the curve I know)

But I am just not happy with it.

The new stuff is cool but the game seems like it was rushed, the last Madden I owned was 07 and I loved that game. Its just that this Madden seems to lack in quality. The announcers are very repetitive and don't really mention players names, they just use generic "he" sayings.

Also the game play is also subpar, "magnet" tackles are abundant and running the ball is nearly impossible. All-Madden mode is way to tough and All-Pro just lack something.

I just feel like EA is really slacking, at least with this game.

Maybe its just the 360. I have '09 for PS3, and I love it. Ive owned maddens since it was just "John Madden NFL football" back before you were probably born. On PS3, the tackles arent magnetic like they used to be. Its actually pretty easy to wiff on a tackle. I also have the opposite problem as far as offense goes. I can run all day on you with westbrook, but unless its a little dunk pass or a PA pass to D jackson, I cant pass for shit. As far as the announcers, you know why they suck dick? Because Chris Collinsworth sucks dick, I hate that piece of shit. I was furious to hear him on Madden. He shouldnt even be on Football Nigh In America, let alone the greatest gaming franchise ever.

If you have problems rushing, use a better team, or try not to make it so obvious. I like to run in a single back, 4 wide, so they fear the pass. Open it up in 4 wide, run, run, screen. Those are my first three plays every game. Its hard to run when there are 8 in the box. You also have to utilize the audibles.

I think youre just a rookie, and you'll get the hang of it.

I actually have Madden 92 on the Sega Genesis, good stuff.

What I do is usually, outside, Playaction, Inside or something like that, there are only a few times I don't do playaction all game.

I play with the saints, I know, bad choice but they're fun.

Fun, but no Defense. I like using Dawkins in the secondary. I dont do play action all the time either, its not effective that way. Try running it in passing formations, passing it in running formations. You use NO, line up in a regular I form, and the first play will have the WRs slant, and bush swinging to the left from the backfield. Its an easy 8-10 yds as long as you dont use it more than 10 times a game.

ive owned every madden from 2001 to 2009, so i will chime in here.

jflip a couple things. this year the PS3 and 360 versions are (finally!) exactly the same in terms of gameplay and quality. second, westbrook is a machine in madden. maybe the best RB in 09.

Danny, if you were playing Madden 07 on 360 and think its better than Madden 08 or 09 on 360, you are simply wrong. Madden 09 is definitely the best madden in a really long time.

Yes, running is easier than passing. there are still passing routes that work in real life that dont really work in the game unfortunately. my favorite passing play in 09 is called "verticals". its really simple, singleback 3WR, 2 to the left, 1 to the right. all receivers do a streak, but the slot receiver moves a little bit inside instead of running straight up the field. same with the tight end on the right side. the RB does a delayed route after blocking for a couple seconds. If you can read the defense properly, either the slot receiver or the TE will be open, and in the unlikely case they are covered, you can dump it to the RB. when throwing streaks, use the left analog stick to throw the ball to the left or right of the receiver depending on where the defender is.

if you play as the saints try a toss to the outside with reggie bush. really quick players do pretty well on toss plays. running up the middle can be done by pretty much everyone though.

Anyway, I am a huge madden fan and am satisfied with madden 09. 08 to 09 might not be as big of a step from 07 to 08, but it is very good nonetheless. a couple things they need to work on for next year: better user-team pass blocking...its impossible to stand in the pocket for more than half a second. also, the CPU defense has super instant reaction times which makes a lot of pass routes unusable. In general it makes the #1 and #2 receivers unusable unless they are running a short cross or drag. thirdly, the CPU AI changes sooo much during a game depending on whether you are winning and at what point in the game you are.

My sister got it for Wii so i go play it at my parents house.
It is shit. Its kinda cool in the sense that you can hike and throw and catch.
but the graphics suck. the gameplay is insanely complicated with the movement combos and Idk i just expected more.

Maybe PS3 is better

Well, I think 09 is more for the football enthusiast. It really seperates the lucky guys who just throw the 60 yard bombs, from the guy who knows what the hell hes doing. Wii overall is a little weak to me, Nintendo always seems aimed towards kiddies.

The way the game "learns" how you play and counters you is awesome. 09 is awesome. Best yet.

I haven't played it in a few weeks, but for some reason I can't run as well as I used to in previous games. But throwing 25 completions for close to 400 yards and 3-5 TD's seems to be a piece of cake.

In the past versions I was a control the clock running based offense, no I control the clock while passing.
