Wow, trent has some sick stuff.

My latest acquisition, which will be in my hands in a few days if everything goes as planned:

It's a Univox Les Paul copy made in the early 70's. I'm looking for a cream pickguard for it to match the binding.

I wish it was a univox high flyer like kurt cobain used to play before his fenders.

I have a univox tube amp in my basement back home my friend left there. it's like 4 feet tall

I'm a drummer, sorry if that sounds stupid haha

^^ is it a bass amp or a guitar amp? Those are rare as hell, Univox went out of business making amps in the early 70's.

Anyway, the chick that owns it currently (going to pick it up tonight) says that it gets real Cobainy. I'm excited :D

                  Yes.

The Telecaster is a chunk of wood for sure, I've had that one since 1979.

Okay, I'll play too. Lately been spending more time wrenching on the cars and should be playing more, but....

                        Goddamn! Nice investment!

I ended up not getting that Univox LP. It was in shitty condition even for a 40 year-old guitar. The first few inlays were on the verge of falling out and didn't match the fretboard cutout shape at all, and there was a bunch of other stuff that just screamed BAD at me.

It's weird... my guitar has on days and off days. Sometimes, I hate the way it sounds and the way it overloads the pickups, but some days it's just dialed in and rocking out and I can't stop playing.

Dude I know what you mean. Its like sometimes its bleh, and youre just playing garbage. But other days, shit just connects in my head. Its like Im 2 steps ahead. Its been like that recently since Ive finally passed the first level of skill and shits like happening in my head and I can actually play whats in m y head. I wish I was as good at guitar as I got at all the other stupid shit instruments I learned. FUck I remember on violin, I could add shit here and there, I could play shit double time just for shits and giggles. At piano y teacher would get pissed because Id add to the lesson my own shit that sounded better to me. But I was younger. I still learn unbelievably quickly and figure shit out on my own, but its different. If I was the sponge of knowledge I was at guitar, Im positive Id be quite good. Shits just came natural to me. Fuck it...... Dont do drugs, kids. haha. What a depressing post this turned out to be haha.

GUYS I need advice from someone who knows something about tube amps

I'm repairing a tube amp right now (specifically, a Peavey heritage VTX) and one of the tubes is fried. Is it significantly better to replace all four tubes with a new matched set, or can I just stick one new tube in and be good to go?

Replace all of them at once. Then make sure you have you're amp biased.

Some amps have a 'bias switch', which allows you to sort of plug and play different power tubes, but it's best to have it done by a professional.
