But you and I both know that if a white guy walked into the Apollo he'd be heckled and harassed until he leaves? A double standard has been built into our beliefs. It's not right. I could be completely off base here...just trying to add my pov. I hope someone comes up with a reasonable rebuttal.
Watch network television and tell me that you saw a "good" amount of Asians, Hispanics, or Black people and get back to me. Not to mention in the 10 years(or whatever) of the show "Friends" they had maybe 2 black people casted. It's like a white person having nothing to watch but BET all day, for example. Wouldn't you want some variety?

Do some research, you'll find there's Latin TV, BET, and even AZN TV. Why, do you ask? Because minority culture simply isn't a major force on mainstream television, and that leaves a lot to be desired. It isn't about separation, but simply providing entertainment that appeals to more than white culture.

Since your post was reasonable, there's a reasonable rebuttle. As for the "A person at my work is racist, why are they all like this?" posts, they don't really deserve a response. If you base your hate for a race by a few people, you have much bigger issues.

The answer to the original question has already been provided by people like Chucko.

I understand that there are many different types of entertainment based on race, however I would disagree to say that culture is definitively white with other races trying to gain their own respect. American culture has been the mixing pot for a long while...the more I think about it, probably not long enough to heal specific racial discrepancies.

All I know is the race card is used a lot...regardless of race. There has to be a quota of colored people in gov. jobs, in colleges, and so on. Why is that ok? If you're good at something that's that, there should be no race discrimination...period.

My girlfriends brother doesn't get into his dream college and the kid is a poster board student and citizen, yet a colored kid gets in because he is colored...is that fair?

In my opinion blacks in America create their own biases.

The "reverse racism" phenomenon is equally as present and powerful as it's counterpart. I define this as racism on the part of the "minority" or "oppressed."

Give up on trying to be politically correct. Just use what's convenient if you truly care about breaking down racism at the core.

As a sidenote, Obama outlawed the race card.

But you didn't answer my question. Would you watch BET, or Latin TV all day? By your logic it is "American" culture, so why not?

Yeah, it does suck that your brother's girlfriend can't get into his dream college, but something that also sucked was the period when minorities weren't allowed in period. How do we make up for this? Do we just ignore a problem that still exists today? And don't say that discrimination doesn't exist anymore. Look at all of the threats to kill the president elect(some even in this forum), and the people saying America isn't ready just because he's black.

In my opinion, the fact that we're singling out black people in this argument (when every race cares about being PC, and has media that pertains to their needs) shows the very same underlying prejudice that leads to these "black created biases."

How about the fact that he's MOSTLY AMERICAN (or is he?) How about his moral obligation there, huh? Nope, he's going to be obligated to his constituents. Who, we see, are the "African American" or "Black vote". Nothing racist there, huh?

                  We shall see.

yesterday i picked up this 94 yo woman for my wife. shes a dental patient of my wifes and cant get there herself so i pick her up and take her every 3 months. shes the nicest sweetest old woman you can imagine and she says to me on the way to the dental office... "so steve , do you think the blackie will get into office?" i started laughing.
i think old people are the most racist people on the planet.

And what percentage of white people accounted for Mccain's votes? You can be the judge of that.

Lets just ignore the fact that minorities have traditionally supported the democratic party to begin with, also.

That's what won him the election...impressionable young citizens and African Americans. It didn't matter what he stood for...same goes for every other uninformed idiot. 95% of the people out there voting have absolutely no idea of what's going on.

The problem is America has never been a melting pot, it's just a stew.
There will never be any change as long as race is used as a form of distinction. Why do we need race? Who cares where your from? Your life should depend on your merit, not on race...unfortunately it's politically incorrect for me to say so.

sir, thats called assimilation, not communism. And i think you mean culture, not race, which is a pretty blurred line.
