I rarely say this but there are two good sides to the argument for bailing out GM...
You can't give everyone a trophy just for playing though...I'd say let them fall. It will suck for a while, but in then end we will be better for it.Last edited by shiftbmw; 11-19-2008, 09:44 PM.sigpic

I've noticed cars from 1k-4k have been selling quite well. People are trying to get out of their car payments.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Everyone is currently scared and keeps their money for the future, which affects their consumption and cuts jobs down the chain. In a society where the economy is based on consumption, cutting or reducing it has bad effects. As soon as people will realize it is not that bad, they will start buying again and that will make the ball rolling. Too bad that the current problems have been caused at a much higher level by pretty loose management. Both in Wall street and Detroit. How long will it take for American to gain confidence and spend again? I don'T know. 6 months, a year. And to resume to business as usual will probably take 5 years. Hopefully lessons will be learned.
My understanding of the big three requesting $50 billion is that they haven't yet been granted the support, and have been questioned about their lavish lifestyle and pay premiums in current hard times...Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
