it depends, i blew through it in 15 hours because I didnt do many side quests(which you want to do to find better weapons, etc.), but it took my brother 30-40 hrs.

I forgot to mention, another great game is Oblivion. I think I ended up playing it for more than 40 hrs(I usually grow bored of most games after about 15-20), and technically didn't beat it.

My first play through Mass Effect was 30 hours and that wasn't even close to doing most of the side missions. For an adventure game it actually has great replay value surprisingly since it's a "create your own story" type deal. It's a lot like an interactive movie actually.
