    Burglarized

I got a call a couple of hours ago at work telling me to come home as soon as I could because our house was broken into during the day. I got home to find out they had kicked down the front door. They hit my room the hardest. Dumped out some boxes in my closet and knocked some stuff down, stole around 40 xbox games, all of my watches and $100 in cash. They stole a bunch of my parents jewelry and watches as well as some cash there too. Overall thankfully they didn't break anything or vandalize anything and they made minimal mess, but they did go through almost every room in the house. All of the lights were left on and both doors were left wide open.

The police just left after doing an inventory and report. Right now I'm waiting for the ID team to come and lift fingerprints. I can't believe some of the stuff they left, they must have been in a really big hurry. They left the 360, my DSLR which was sitting right next to my computer, my ipod and my digital point-and-shoot. They also left all of our car keys thank God. My moms 528i and one of my dads uninsured E30's were sitting in the garage.

Anyone else have a burglary story to share? I'm feeling a little victimized and weird right now.

My grand parents place in AZ got hit right after they went back to MI for the summer. The fuckers were living in the place for almost a week. My mom went over to water the flowers and thought it was weird that the A/C was running but did not have time to check it out that day, good thing too.

They got the safe broke lose off the floor which had 4 omegas in it, and untold amounts of jewelry, cash an other important papers. All of my grandpas guns, camera gear that was there, and electronics (tvs, Home audio, computer) tools, kitchen wears, address book, and who knows what all else. My grand ma's jewelry box that was not in the safe, some of her clothing, here odd ball crystal collection, the good silver and china, all got loaded into the 3 month old suburban and off it all went. They are still finding shit missing 3 years latter

You're never going to see any of that stuff again...but then again it is Canada. Maybe you have a superior judicial system.

Some dick broke into my car and stole everything out of it. Fuckin prick stole my checks, which happened to be in the glove compartment from earlier in the day. He then got arrested later that week with my checkbook on him. I get a call at 5:30 in the morning letting me know that this guy has my checks. They want to know if I gave them to him. HA

Needless to say, he's arrested and then released...never appears at any court date and never pays any damage repair. Fucker has a warrant out for his arrest and will either never get caught or not return to America (he's Meixcan). I hate pieces of shit that steal. That is the lowest of the low imo. He should be hung by hills fuckin balls.

Edit: Forgot to mention the icing on the cake. It was in my gated apartments underground garage, with security cameras monitoring the whole thing. I went to the complex and asked for them to release the tapes to me and they said "no" for the simple reason that it is private and I am not allowed to see it. Of course I complain and ask for the manager. I never get a call back even after multiple phone calls per day, until 12 days later when I get a phone call from the asscake manager who says "the tapes get erased every 12 days. sorry."

About a year ago, some douchebag broke into my work truck overnight and stole my $200 DeWalt 14.4V cordless drill, and about $400-500 worth of specialty telecom and AV tools. About half of the tools were shop tools, too. So I had to replace them.

                OP,
Sorry man, that sux. I will tell you that smash and grabs usually won't steal anything with a serial number, or with any internet capabilities. It's too hard to fence them right now, too much liability for not enough money. They will take things that they can sell quick that are untrackable like jewlery for the most part.
Be glad no one was home, get on to your community's online forum and post what happened and what is missing ASAP, and for christ's sake let every one of you neighbors know. Awareness is what got the people in my neighborhood caught. My house is one of a handfull that hasn't been broken into yet. I can tell you my dog isn't a factor as other houses with pitts have been broken into. The only thing we have going for us are these: I work from home and keep random hours so it's almost impossible to "case" our house. I know my neighbors and they are very aware of the fact break ins are plentiful right now, and we have a very good home security system. My wife's family owns a very good private home security company complete with their own centarl monitoring station. We test our alarm consistantly, we upgrade without fail, and I set the alarm off ALOT! It is the loudest thing I have ever heard. I get a phonecall and a text within 10 seconds of it tripping. If I don't answer, the police are dispatched.
Story: I left the hood of my e30 up overnight (by mistake) about a month ago. My neigbor came home from work late (@ 2am) and saw it with no lights on in my house. He immediatly called the police b/c he knew it was very weird for my car to be exposed like that. Needless to say it was my fault, but screw it, I thanked him for days. He made a good decision in my eyes.
                Yours truly,
                Rich

I've had quite a few experiences with petty theft from my house/vehicle etc etc but thought I'd share just one..

They broke into my house and all I could figure they stole besides some coins was about three porkchops and a bottle of rootbeer - wtf?!

Sorry to hear the news, OP. I'm lucky enough so far to avoid being robbed/held up!
Someone took my ka-bar from my e30 bout 3 years ago, though. I was furious for bout 4 days.

                          Sorry to read.

My neighbourhood is fairly quiet. But some guy's Golf Mk3 which is fairly nice looking was stolen from the parking lot, where there is pretty much always a movement going on, and found stripped in a nearby town.

I'm uneasy these days to say the least.

They likely rubbed their balls on all the remotes.

Had about $800 worth of tools, an iPod, and GPS stolen from my Suburban a few weeks ago. They messed up both front door handles and the driver's window moulding trying to get in with less invasive methods, then just decided to bust out the window.

It seemed like they took care not to do more damage than they had to. I'm impressed that they got that tool box out without breaking the E30 windows I had lying on the floor in back.
