BTW, you can hook up a manual 6-speed to an e32 5.0. I remember reading an article in Bimmer about it 4 or 5 years ago, a guy did a conversion on his and made it one heck of a hotrod.

You mean you can bolt up a manual to the M70? Any idea what transmission you use for that? The 560G used on the 850CSi is stupid, stupid expensive.

The V12 750i never came with manual, the V8 740i never came with manual either. The last manual transmission 7er was the E32 735i with the G260.

Not the 7 specifically, but other older v8 powered BMW cars with manuals from the factory.

For a manual swap on your M30 E32, you will use the G260/6. The G265 was used in various E28's and the E30 M3. The G260 isn't as strong as the G265, but the G260/6 is significantly stronger than it's G260/5 counterpart. Do some searching, it isn't a difficult swap.

Well the first one that comes to mind would be the E34 540i/6, which used the 420G. There's also the 310Z in pre-9/95 E34 530i, and the 320Z used in the post-9/95 E34 530i. Supposedly, those are both the same manual transmissions used in the E36 M3's known for their ability to "money shift."

But, I would imagine a Getrag 420G 6-speed wouldn't be a terribly difficult swap in an E32 740i. It'd be pretty nuts too.
