question for marines former and current

when i bought my car it had a USMC sticker in the back window under the tint.

i have always covered it with a sticker because i was never in the marines nor have any of my family (USAF and army) and i felt weird about it like i was representing myself as USMC. well the sticker that was covering it came off of it a couple of months ago and when i was at the grocery store yesterday the person in the car next to me saw the sticker and my burns and asked if i was in the marines and it that (burn ) had happened in iraq

maybe i am just weird about it i don't know... i always wondered how a Marine felt about that, or is it just like showing support

I figure that's why they make the other kinds of Marine stickers too. So people don't get confused.

The Marine Corps is a brotherhood. A bumper sticker is one small way of identifying one to another and your patron may simply have been reaching out to someone bound by something different; active, veteran, or just showing support. There are a lot more servicemembers not even getting a nod hello walking through a door.

If you want to show your support for the Marines, I'd say you're already there. If you'd rather not or do not want to be confused for a Marine, try some Goo Gone and take the sticker off. It's your choice; literally the freedom Marines have sworn to protect.
