I did this in my Chem lab and thought I would share

What you will need:
[1] bees honey
[2] real maple syrup (not the fake stuff)
[3] a cup or other vessel you don't ever want to use again
[4] a stirring utensel you don't ever want to use again
[5] newspaper or a plastic trash bag to protect the area around your experiment
[6] food coloring (optional)

Step 1: pour equal parts maple syrup and bees honey into cup (optional: add a couple drops of food coloring)

Step 2: stir them together until it starts to look foamy

Step 3: watch and be amazed, because you created polyurethane foam!!

This is what mine looked like. I put a glove over the cup with the ends of the fingers cut off, and green food coloring. This picture is a mess of other experiments we did that day, but you get the idea.

haha, ya it was the last lab of the term and the instructor wanted to have some fun. he took us out for beers after class too.

How much does that stuff expand once the reaction starts?

in the picture, the little cup in front was only filled about 1/3 of the way before the reaction started.
