my friend's laptop had an overheating issue...

... so we pimped it out with an ebay turbocharger and a cardboard body kit.

No more overheating issues, and his laptop runs much more smoothly under heavy load!

Yea, you could have just cleaned the dust.

          doesn't that negate its portability?

If you get that fan a little further away from that wall it will increase the efficiency by a lot...

Or you could clean the heat sink and vents...

            At least you were thinking.

Hey... Could It be a bad battery?

We cleaned out the vents and heatsink first, naturally.

DCC - there isn't much room, and the fan doesn't bend downward without assistance from tools that are in my trunk at the moment. The desk is moved away from the wall, and the fan's intake slots are on the sides, anyway.

Also, I keep forgetting or missing the opportunity to call John Mason. I'm sorry, I will get on it Monday as I will be awake in the AM.

drift - this was a spur-of-the-moment fix. One of those would be a good alternative, yes.

gazellebeigem3 - no. Laptop is still completely removable. We're using novelty shot glasses as supports for the laptop, the cardboard is just a shroud to keep my friend's arms from becoming very, very cold.
