this is the plan. Put my hard drive on my friends live enabled 360 , Recover his gamer tag on my fresh hard drive, buy credits, download Car Pack and enjoy.

Dont even get on me about being cheap and not buying the whole setup. times are tough and 360 keeps me home.

yes, account, not harddrive. so just recover his account onto your drive, OR you could just do a 1-month gold trial for free, or if you own any games there should be a 48 hour gold trial thing in the box.

Epic fail, worst let down of my life.
after trouble shooting it I read this on IGN

While attempting to use previously downloaded premium content, you cannot see or play the content
Describes an issue where you cannot play premium content that you had previously downloaded on a different Xbox 360 console. This is by design. You have to sign into Xbox LIVE with your gamertag to have the content play.

so, don't try it. he can still use his live account but only on his 360 can he buy the M3 and the Quattro in Decembers car pack.. : (
