If anything this guy will get off will a plea of insanity and have to go to some counseling and possibly do some time in a psyc ward. That's it. Honestly he was thinking very quickly after the accident occurred and since he did that they will think he needs some counseling to get his head right and it will keep him out of prison for man vehicular man slaughter because he isn't in any mental condition to be in prison.
