Pioneer blu-ray are the best on the market imo, BUT allot more $$$
Word. A friend of mine has the Elite Blu-Ray player. Awesome machine. Looks pretty damn good running on a Pioneer Elite 1080p panel through an Anthem D2 :).
Prepare to own the greatest console to ever suck so much.
it really doesn't suck at all. it doesn't have gears of war or halo or forza 2, but it has plenty of good games the 360 doesnt have. and it is reliable, which the 360 can't exactly claim. i could keep going, but i am not going to get into a fanboy argument about consoles when i've already outlined my thoughts about both consoles (since i own both) in that other thread that one time a while ago.
anyway, he is buying one for the blu-ray functionality, not for gaming.
I bought the PS3 a couple weeks or so back, sweet. I just need to pick up some cool games for down time. So far you guys recommend: GT, Tomb Raider, and Madden. Anything else??
Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Far Cry 2, LittleBigPlanet, Bioshock, DiRT, Hot Shots Golf.
I unrecommend TR. Play the games i listed above, first. I only recommend GT if you reeeeally liked GT3 and 4 enough to spend money on a glorified demo, which GT5 prologue currently is. Madden 09 is very good.
Citing yesterdays disappointing November hardware sales, CNNMoney has called the Sony PlayStation 3 a sinking ship.
The numbers show that the PS3 sold 19 percent less ...

Not gonna do COD5? I've played 4 quite a bit and all my friends just picked up 5. I'm probably gonna get it for Christmas.
cod4 is better honestly. cod: world at war (technically not cod5) is built on the same engine as cod4, but set back in WW2 (as i am guessing you have figured out by now). It has gotten significantly lower ratings than cod4 probably due to lack of originality, but also some of the gameplay features just don't work as well as they do in cod4. if i were you, i would get cod:waw, and assuming you like it a fair amount, pick up cod4 for about $30 somewhere, and i can almost guarantee you will enjoy that game even more, unless you have something against modern day settings in video games.
