    Try using Google sometimes to research your "facts". You'd be surprised to discover that only less than 25% of Americans are Catholic.

    I'll assume you meant to say 80% of Americans call themselves "Christian", of which there must be at least 500 different flavours to choose from, all of which remind me of a joke I saw recently, might even have been here.

    The point of all that, [pay attention, it's bold and underlined here because this is the important bit], the point is it doesn't matter if you're Catholic, or even if you're Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915, or any other flavour of Christian.

    The 1st Amendment to your US Constitution says:[INDENT]"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

    Wrong. What it means is that no favor shall be shown to any one religion. Remember the US was started on people wanting to practice their own religion with out fear of persecution. America then as now, had many versions of christianity, so showing favor to any one version of christianity had the potential to be just like what this country hated.Over the years this has come to allow for all religions and practices...that are demeed ok by society.

    The purpose of the Constitution is to ensure that the equal rights of every person under your Constitution, especially the minorities, will always take precedence over whatever flavour of religious hokum is in fashion at the time.

    Just like your Catholics, your Christians, your Reformed Baptist Church of God Reformation of 1915, just like your Jews, your Blacks, your Orientals, your Hispanics, and even your Irish, all of which are American citizens just like yourself and entitled to get married even if they aren't "Christian", your gays and lesbians are every bit equally American citizens and entitled to exactly the same rights.

    Is not marriage something created by relgions? Why should people that dont follow a religion want to take part in one of its ceromonies? Because society says its the ultimate way of dedicating your self, is to follow religious standards of love and of a family

    Treating them differently than other American citizens, forcing them to "sit at the back of the bus" so to speak, is not that much different than cutting their heads off.

    Okay so its wrong to treat gays different the others, but are handicapped people not given special treatment? Do women not have doors opened for them? thats special treatment last I checked. Why should a group thats differnt be given the same treat ment as the "norm" ?

    Long before Hitler managed to figure out a way to kill off Jews in large enough numbers, he first practised his techniques on smaller minorities. Gays and lesbians, the mentally disabled, the physically disabled, Romanian gypsies, all the small minorities that everyone treated as trash anyway and nobody would miss.

    Wrong again. Hitler didnt get his "practice" on the gays/mental/gypsies...what he did is he used them as scapegoats for the economy being as bad as it was. He gave the people an object to get their anger and frustration out on. Jews where targeted like the rest from the begning,infact most of the other groups where cast down much later...as they where seen as being unfit for Hitlers version of the SUPREME RACE.

    Absent probable cause, and absent consent, the Homeland Security officers have no right to search your car for drugs at an immigration checkpoint. Refusal to give consent is not grounds for probable cause. Even if you are a disrespectful dick.

    I will agree with you on that case, they had no right to search the mans car

    Age should never be attacked, ignorance should always be attacked.

    Its hard to ignore someone no matter the age, that is incorrect, and attacks others with little to no facts and a huge amount of ignorance to what he claims to know a great deal about.

    What that means is that even if 99.9% of Americans adopted some version of the Bible and thus had some claim to being Christian, the other 0.1% that are not Christian would still be entitled to the same equal rights under the law.

    To the Kanuk,

    Concerning the portion of the Constituion you are refering to ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL...you have to go back to that time period and understand what MEN/MAN meant during that time period. A man during that time period was ; someone that owned land/property, paid taxes, followed guidelines of the church(s)...was essentially a good man. A straight man. A MAN was not a woman, or a slave or a homosexuall.( and in somecases not IRISH LOLOL )

    How can a "gay" be a threat...it goes against 99.9% of religions and 100% against nature. Kind of simple answer honestly. There is so much that I could go into from what Ive learned from my gay friends, and groups over the years that I dont think I could survive the flame storm that would happen if I only stated the truths.

    As to your comments about our nation and its founding all together :

    ONE NATION UNDER GOD.

    This nation was founded under religious guidelines, its as simple as that. Those guidelines and ideals laid down by the Bible, not the church, are what helped lay down the blueprints of our nation. Our forefathers, they where backwater "rednecks" they farmed, and traded and hunted in the country...just like "rednecks"...they had an education through self education. Not some high standard school(s), or great tutors.

    The Irish, yes thats right the Irish. They where hated more then blacks.

    Now, my family is from the south, hertiage as far back as first colonies. Blacks in the south are not hated, and treated as less then humans as hollywood likes to depict them.     Your blatant ignorance of American laws is astounding, for someone that is trying to talk down Americans about our own laws. Basic bit o' info for you :

    1. To be able to own a "machine gun" you need a class 3 license...that means a full background check that takes at least 1 - 3 months. Once you get a class 3 , you agree to be able to be searched at any point and time by police/feds to make sure you are still following all our laws. Needless to say not many people own a class 3.
    2. To even be able to have a Concealed Carry Weapon ( ccw ) , you need to pass a background check, fingerprinted, and photographed. Even then, you cant have a ccw if you have any violent crimes on your records, bar fight to hitting your wife. If you have a felony, be it white collar or not.
    3. Many states will not allow people to own class 3 weapons or hand guns, and since the new ruling on "right to bear arms" went through. Alot of states that did not allow people to ccw, now have a " may issues "...that basically means if WE think you need it you can have it.

    Now, if you look at the states that allow open carry/CCW , they have lower crime rates then those that do not. If you do not believe me , please use google and look. " An armed society , is a polite society."

    Your Declaration of Independence, whereby you freed yourself from the tyranny of British rule, says,
    "We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."
    Furthermore, the XIVth Amendment to your United States Constitution says,
    "Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
    The Declaration of Independence, which you are all supposed to be so proud of, stems from way back in 1776, 232 years ago. The XIVth Amendment to the Constitution is a little more recent, 1868, a mere 140 years ago.

    The Rosa Parks incident happened practically only yesterday in 1955, giving rise to the Civil Rights Movement, Martin Luther King Jr., etc. Yet, even until today, it is still considered a major landmark achievement that America has elected a black President.

    I suppose it's an encouraging sign that Americans have finally started to believe that all persons are equal under your laws, and that all persons are entitled to the same rights under your Constitution, even if they're black.

    When George W Bush was running for re-election, one of his campaign platforms was a promise to amend the United States Constitution, to clarify that little phrase where the Constitution guarantees equal rights for all persons, so that everyone would better understand that this obviously was never meant to include gays or lesbians. The reason is simple. His Bible told him so, which is enough proof for him that his god never intended gays or lesbians to marry, which not surprisingly is exactly the same excuse used by the Taliban to justify the persecution of its citizens.

    Our consitution is in the shits, this is nothing new. Obama, Bush, Clinton, McCain..it doesn't matter, it is in shangles.

    Okay, the bit I'm curious about is this. In California, based on their constitutional rights to equality, a same-gender couple challenged the laws preventing them from marrying. That case went as far the California Supreme Court who in May 2008 ruled that, yes, it is an obvious Constitutional rights violation to deny any two US citizens the right to marry, and an obviously discriminatory act if that right is denied solely on the basis of gender.


    In exactly the same way that it is discriminatory to deny a women the right to vote, simply because she is the "wrong" gender, it is an equally obvious discrimination to deny a couple the right to marry simply because either of them is the "wrong" gender.

    Phew, so that looked settled. The world looked on and said, alright, so maybe the USA isn't populated entirely by homophobic rednecks. They're about to elect their first black President, and they finally agreed that gays and lesbians are also considered as equals under their Constitution. There is still hope that Americans might be better than the Taliban.

    However, in the same election which brought Obama to power, Californians voted to strike down the rights to same-sex marriage!

    How is that even possible? Please explain.

    If she hadn't died only three years ago, could California also vote to return Rosa Parks to riding at the rear of the bus?
    California is off in it's own little world
    Gay marrage is a state issue
    Califiornians voted to ban gay marriage
    Government is looking to over rule the people's desision

    Okay, that's all still cool. You can elect anyone you want. That's how the system works. And you fully deserve the consequences of that folly. But the Constitution is there to protect all Americans from exactly this type of thing. You can elect a President who shares your belief that blacks should be forced once again to the back of the bus. But, the Constitution stands as the shining instrument by which your minorities are protected.

    Okay, the bit I'm curious about is this. In California, based on their constitutional rights to equality, a same-gender couple challenged the laws preventing them from marrying. That case went as far the California Supreme Court who in May 2008 ruled that, yes, it is an obvious Constitutional rights violation to deny any two US citizens the right to marry, and an obviously discriminatory act if that right is denied solely on the basis of gender.

    In exactly the same way that it is discriminatory to deny a women the right to vote, simply because she is the "wrong" gender, it is an equally obvious discrimination to deny a couple the right to marry simply because either of them is the "wrong" gender.

    Phew, so that looked settled. The world looked on and said, alright, so maybe the USA isn't populated entirely by homophobic rednecks. They're about to elect their first black President, and they finally agreed that gays and lesbians are also considered as equals under their Constitution. There is still hope that Americans might be better than the Taliban.

    However, in the same election which brought Obama to power, Californians voted to strike down the rights to same-sex marriage!

    How is that even possible? Please explain.

    If she hadn't died only three years ago, could California also vote to return Rosa Parks to riding at the rear of the bus?

    so what your saying is america has nothing to do with their internal affairs? if that is so then where the fuck do we get off trying to police the world if america doesnt determine americas minimum wage, if america has no say in building nuclear plants in america, if america cant control their own intrest rates? if america doesnt decide america's internal affairs who does?

    look at who made these decisions? its not that hard. america made these decisions. should we really be trying to police other countries when we can barely keep our country financially stable, or when have seperate parties with an almost equal amount of followers who try to fuck eachother over(kinda reminds me of spy vs spy).
