I have seen it as well or how about 200lbs of sand/salt in the trunk of a FWD to get weight to add traction. I asked a guy about why he had all that weight in the trunk of a grand prix a few years ago. That is what he said. I could not stop laughing at him, he got really pissed till I composed my self enough to try an explain it to him. Goofy yuppies, he still did not get it.

that looks really good. and fun! i went out and about today for the first time in this weather in my e30. i went to an undercover area at a school so i could get some skating in. its killing me that i cant. anywho, i get there..there are a ton of people. so i turn around in the parking lot filled with snow and "drifted" a little bit. basically i slid sideways for like 2 seconds hah. i didnt want to risk damaging anything endangering anyone. especially since ive never done it.

i didnt do it on purpose by the way. fun none the less.
