Watching the news and I have been following the Casey Anthony case in FL. How are the police able to research ones computer on what searches were made months ago? And is there a way to wipe what one has searched so that anyone that knows how to check cant find a history?

Even if you delete it from your computer, Google and other search engines save all that information in a cache. They would require a warrant to get the information from them just as they would need one to tap your computer.

Ok, here is what I understand, though it may not be 100% correct. If you delete shit off your computer, its not really deleted. It is just deleted from the accessible part of your computer. It is not totally GONE until it is overwritten. Just like when pedophiles delete kiddie porn off their hard drive, its not really deleted until its overwritten on that given space.

That is my understanding. I dont know if its 100% correct, but its certainly more helpful than the previous responses lol.

This is correct. Sometimes it needs to be overwritten multiple times before it is unrestorable. Safest bet is to throw your harddrive in a fire.
