yes i agree the navy is a cake walk, but something about being the militarys dog just doesnt sit right with me. it reminds me of when i was younger, i had all the basics provided for me, then i became an adult and had responsibilities but i was finally my own man. then i joined the navy and i lost my sence of freedom. its not the mental or physical rigors that drove me to go awol, it was my freedom i craved.

well currently im in pensacola, been sitting around for a couple weeks. they are suppose to be sending me to jackson ville and i will get my punishment there. when you are ua and you get discharged you get an other than honerable, not a dishonerable.

Don't forget you can always re apply for an honorable discharge after X amount of time. (I believe it's 6 months, but I could be wrong). Most people don't get it, but it's worth a shot to help clear up your future. I hear that the Navy very rarely ever gives upgrades on discharges, but again ... it's worth a shot. Goodluck with your time!

I'm not too familiar with these things but, wouldn't they just come find you?

OTH discharge means under other than honerable conditions i think. its not an honerable, but not a dishonerable either. as for them coming to get me, they dont do that any more. all they do is issue a federal warrent for your arrest. and yes i did luck out.

I'm not completely familiar with these situations, but can someone fill me in as far as detailing me a comparable situation to the OP?

                        Thanks!

I think the purpose of the OTH discharge is so that your career isn't ruined for the rest of your life. Not 100% though.
