i went to go and see it on X-mas night. i didn't have any high expectations of it and i was not disappointed!
it was loosely historical, more of a story tailored to TC's acting ability.
he did start off speaking German in the beginning of the movie, then he had a German accent for about another 5-10 min. then it was gone.
it reminded me of Kevin Costner doing Robin Hood w/o the English accent.
all together the movie was Meh at best. i didn't hate it, but it was nothing special either.
i already had pretty in depth knowledge of the story, because I AM a WWII history buff and have done extensive research on the 3rd Reich, national socialism, and the SS.
i was surprised to see several of the actors from "The Downfall" in it though.
Thomas Kretschmann (Fegelein in The Downfall and he was also in Stalingrad) he was the commander of the Valkyrie
Cristian Berkel (Schenck in The Downfall) he was the "counter weight" in the chain of command to the politicians
Rolf Kanies (Krebs in The Downfall) was a minor charector an the
"Wolve's lair"
i would probably buy it when it hits the $5 bin at wall mart, otherwise

I don't care how good it is or isn't because I cannot stand Tommy Boy and I don't watch anything with him in it.

I believe there were like 15 assassination attempts/plots on Hitler. The eagles nest is pretty cool if you have ever been. Its where he actually did the deed.

When I first saw the previews I thought it was about Rommel...if it was id go see it...and if it didnt have Tom in it.

I think it looks good, I really want to see it, just for the WWII/Nazi Germany content, I've always been really interested in that stuff.
Tom Cruise -->:hitler: <-- Hitler.

IE don't think the Nazis were as bad as they are made out to be. But I also heard it's a good movie so I'm not sure. I'll probably go see it eventually.
Also, all the drama between Cruise and the German government was cleared up and the German government official who originally spoke out against Cruise playing the part actually apologized.

O and to those who says that Germans didnt like Scientology, well it goes a step further. They didnt want Tom Cruise to play that role.
