Car Shipping guys did a number on my E30M3 and 190E 16V

    Just ranting...

Well after 17 long grueling days at the hands of the car shipping company, I finally received my BMW E30 M3 and the Mercedes 190E 16V in Texas where I moved in.

We paid(well my company) to ship both cars in an enclosed carrier and here's the bonus from them so far:

    - Broken driver side window on the 190E
    - Generous application of swirl marks on the hood. I beg for them not to wash the car at all because I know this will happen and they still did.
    - about 1/2" thick pebble stones spread on the windshield wiper plastic area. Offroading anyone?
    - a tiny nick on the windshield
    - dirt and mud on the driver side and passenger side. Looks like a couple of people use the Benz for a joy ride.
    - Nestle crunch on the seat. The guts of these people!
    - the tires were all mudied up

Well on the BMW E30 M3, the gas tank was half way full when it left my house and when it arrived, it was I mean literally BONE dry! I reset the trip odo before the trip and someone logged about 150 or so miles.

I reported everything to the claims department, my move coordinator and the director of services. They will repaint the hood and replace the driver side window.

I was really upset to see how a very reputable car shipping company could've done this. I mean they are 50+ yr old company and something like this happened.

I didn't choose this company because it was part of the move package. I have shipped 2 cars before and there was not even a single problem.

Just be careful out there guys. Just because they are some big shot names doesn't mean they care about jack.

It stinks because I never let a fly land over them and it always has car cover inside a parking garage.

    Was this DAS?

yup...I know sometimes stuff like this happens from time to time, but my 2 cars at the same time? Their average casualties must've been high.

It felt like they were trying to vandalize my cars on purpose.

was gonna say this sounds like DAS to me

next time use Reliable Carriers, they cost more but there is a reason nearly every OEM that ships anything in this country uses them. think Car show and prototype stuff. They are great, you car will show up just as you sent it off. My self an my brother have both used them.

edit: yes make them pay make them pay for everything a refund your money to ship the cars to you. If you wanted to let some kids beat on you cars your would have let you nephews deliver them to you.

Thats fucking ridiculous. I would see about talking to a lawyer. I would be so fucking enraged if that happened to me. I would post your story all over the net if I were you, and make sure people know that it is DAS

Seems to me like you could come away from this with a stack of bills in your hand.

            Get yourself a good lawyer.

Did you make sure to take pictures of your cars before hand and thoroughly document them? They should pay you for your cars pain and suffering, kidding but not.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

yeah I got pictures of everything including the odometer and gas cluster. I even saved the nestle crunch wrapper, if someone bought it with card we will be able to trace who bought it.

Darn kids even put their shoes in my dashboard while riding because there are shoe marks in the dash.

I came from Pacific Northwest and I think them cars was vandalized back there because of the presence of dirt and wet weather indicator.

atleast you didnt get about $4000 worth of parts stolen off and from in your cars, along with a big huge bent front bumper and valance.-- these are just the tip of the iceberg for my shipping experience.-- my car was filthy along with the tires too- but I shipped mine across the ocean... and it was subcontracted to many different companies, so noone will take the blame. I am still in dispute with the company and I recieved the car atleast 3 months ago-- and have yet to recieve the title of my car of the tax paperwork.

That's absolutely insane. I would be freaking irate! It's unfortunate that something like this would happen, but every company can have a couple bad apples and I think as long as the shipping company handles it properly (i.e.:fix all the damages, refunds the shipping, fires those responsible, etc ...), then maybe they could save face. But to tell you the truth there is very few honest and good companies anymore, so I wouldn't expect any of that to happen with out some legal action.

I think this may happen more than times than not. We just had a pristeen, one owner 1968 250sl come into the shop that had about $9000 in damage. Came in because it was leaking a bit of coolant. Turned out the fan was lodged in the radiator. Near as we can tell, the car was run while on a lift. On these cars the subframe "floats" with the suspension so the motor leans forward with the wheels off the ground. Of course, I guess someone could have gotten it airborne.

Did you get pics of all that before cleaning any of it? I'd at least do that, keeps your options open.

If the lawyer thing seems like too much $$ for the risk of getting nothing, I'd at least persue this in small claims court, but if your company paid to move you, then I'm betting the coin for a lawyer would be fine, if not on your employers' tab since it falls under the cost/damages involved with the relocation.

I'm far from a sue-happy type, but that total lack of respect for your property needs to have a repercussion on the carrier & its' employees.

If I employed people who did that, they would have a pink slip in hand before the ink was dry. They know better than to do this kind of stuff. I worked on a car lot as a teen & I know I'd have been down the road kicking rocks for anything close to this.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.
