Just called the guy and I told him 3000 for how it sits right now. He said he wouldnt sell it for anything less then 5000. Be warned if you call him you better have a good hour or so to let this guy ramble and to make it worse you cant understand anything he says

He said that he bought this car for 6 a few months ago with the fire damage. Motor and tranny are good according to him and that he has the full interior for it.

if that car has a clean title and a good running motor, $5k is not a bad deal really. remember these cars are going up in value. i paid $4000 for mine (PO wanted $6k though, until it sat unsold for 3 months). looking back i should have paid closer to $3k which is what a straight shell with no rust goes for roughly. the guy with the silver car could put that car on ebay and probably get what hes asking for it.

He said the ecu is fine. I was wondering if this is some kind of magical black box resistent to fire. Its been in an accident before is what he said when I ask for the vin.

It has a salvage title. so $3k is the right price.

Tell me about it. I made him a good offer and he said I was crazy to think I could buy his car for 3k.

It sounds crazy, but yeah... that's what they're going for. Ever wonder why I don't part out many M3s?

unfortunately, if the car was on craigs before when it was running and perfectly fine with a higher asking price - I'm not going to assume, but IMO, if it's relisted months later at a bargain price due to a fire (interior fire at that), it just looks & screams like an insurance job...

How many of these E30's burn up due to dash related fires? Not many I've heard of, and especially not any E30 M3's...

It's entirely possible it was an "accident", but with statements being made this car was listed previously at a high asking price and now it's burned up - just seems really weird. I also would not doubt it for anyone trying to do this with any other specialty/collectible/classic valued car, due to the current financial and economic times folks are experiencing.

I'm sure the owner had full coverage on such a vehicle (anyone not having full coverage or stated value coverage on an E30 M3 would be an idiot) - so likely, he's already been paid the value of the vehicle and most likely bought it back from the insurance company and is now making even more $$$ by selling it as is...

Looks like it was a very nice M3 from the exterior...
