I gotta give it to the pilot for pulling a landing like that off. Truly proud of the guy.

But if I was a passenger though, I might have died. Not from the plane, but being in the Hudson River on one of the coldest days of the year? My floridian ass would be in trouble. :p

i was on one of the ferry's crossing the hudson at the same time. luckily got across to the nj side before they shut the ferry service down and sent the ferries for evacuation. looks like the pilot did an amazing job landing it perfectly in the water with no serious injuries or casualties. give that man a medal!!

your right, it is frigid cold here in nyc today. although the water has not frozen over yet today, i expect it to tomorrow.

I heard this on the radio driving home...that's really impressive. Much props to the pilot for having enough skill to manage that landing.

Please let's leave all of that bullshit out of this thread.
All the preliminary reports indicate it was nature and until the NTSB brings out its official reports lets leave the terrorists claims, albeit 'just jokes' out of it too.

Too many threads going to shit on R3V unnecessarily.

the pilot did anamazing job !
my friend has a condo facing the Hudson and saw it happened live - the plane landing, big splash, police boats etc... absolutely unbelievable that everyone is ok, the pilot and the crew deserve medals for bravery and professionalism

I just saw the news story about this. I'm thankful we actually have pilots that can do good things in crisis time.

I've been watching it on the news for the past few hours, it was an amzing feat by the pilot, the crew, and the occupants aboard. The father of one of my good friend's actually knew the pilot, apparently the pilot had some background in the Air Force as well. He definitely saved the day for everyine on board.

As fine and dandy as this all is, I have noticed it now more than ever that the news love tragedies or near tragedies such as this. The moment that Larry King asked Dr. Sanjay Gupta if he "had any idea what a bird would do to a plane" I changed the channel. The media is so fucking annoying.

from what I heard the pilot was also an experienced glider pilot. Bet he never thought that would help while he was on the clock!
