Obviously staged though. Rumor has it, the old black Stig (Perry McCarthy) leaked the details about being the Stig and was subsequently removed from the show. Top Gear said that the black Stig "died" when the unmanned nitrous-powered Jaguar XJS went off the aircraft carrier.

Yeah, the link at the top of the thread talked about some of the details of black stig leaving. How he had put it in his book that he wrote and such and so they fired him.

It was a really long time ago when it happened. He supposedly died by running nitrous in a jaguar and running it off the end of an aircraft carrier if I remember right.
