Just got a PS3. what racing game to get?

hey guys, i just picked up a PS3 with Metal Gear Solid 4.

first off, WOW the graphics are awesome

but here is what im looking for... a racing game thats any good. I know of GT5 P but what else? im thinking of GRID has anyone played it? does any game have the e30 M3 or at least the option of downloading it like in Forza 2? thanks in advance. i want a sim like racing game

OH and when does the full version of GT5 come out. anyone know.

Grid, is a very good one. GT5:P might hold you over for a bit, Motorstorm is ok, Ridge Racer 7 is awesome looking in 1080P. GT5 is still TBA 2009, according to IGN.com

There just isn't anything comparable to Forza 2, yet.

wow i just got onto the PlayStation store and im downloading a demo of GRID. i have school tomorrow, and cant go to sleep. time to boot up MGS4 while GRID is DL.

There aren't really any sim racing games right now...Just GT5P and GTHD. Grid is awesome, so is Dirt. I've been playing Midnight Club recently which is pretty fun, but I've heard some other people say they don't like it. If you want to buy an imported game, Initial D is supposed to be pretty good. I almost bought it while I was in Japan, but it was late in the trip, and I didn't want to spend money, plus it wasn't any cheaper than buying it online from here, so I bought Wangan Midnight for $20 instead, it's like a dumbed down Tokyo Extreme Racer...

EDIT: after watching the shit load of Gran turismo drift videos online back when 3 and 4 where the hot shit I realized the game sucked dick, out of all 11 of my friends we couldnt come up with anything. ive never been impressed by GT, *more of my BS* I find it especially awesome that When I started sliding cars in forza it wasnt the first thing I did in the game, Since NO GAME EVER MADE thus far had been able to do any kind of drift I didnt even bother. So after weeks of playing I was like " I wonder if it will drift" and holy fuckn shit it did! the car I was using a 800 HP supra.. so 4th gear all the way around maple valley was bliss, The up Hill courses where MONEY! shit I love forza.. and I love R3V and matt russell and now you if you read this far.

DIRT is awesome, Im stuck on the last two tears, and grid still sucks. But does anyone remember when it was suppose to be Colin Mcrae DIRT off road racing? the game came out before He passed and the name was still scrapped.. wonder why?

Can't say i agree with you on GT...First of all you can drift in any of them, go back and play them now and you'll see, it's just very difficult, which really, how easy should it be in a sim game to drift a car with a controller? Not a big fan of Forza myself, but I won't get into that.

Also I might add that there were certainly drifing games before Forza came out...

i dont like how the car feels in grid. the graphics are great but the handling is too arcadey for a game that claims to be sim-like.

i own gt5p and i would say its worth about $20-$30, but not $40. definitely the best graphics on the system. no word on gt5 release date. sources say late 2009 for japan, probably 3-6 months later for US and europe.

i own ferrari challenge as well. it is a simple, yet underrated racing game, especially if you like ferraris (who doesnt?).

i own DiRT too. pretty fun rally game, but the handling is similar to GRiD, which as i mentioned I am not a fan of.

the most fun I have racing on PS3 is Motorstorm, hands down. I bought both the first and second on their release dates, and have not been disappointed with either. My only complaint is that there aren't licensed vehicles, but at the same time the car is arcadey so you can't expect that.
