M-theory, Unified String Theory, Parallel universes, and the like

So some leading physicists have combined the ideas of super-gravity and string theory to incorporate the 11th dimension and unify the string theories, giving way to m-theory.

The contention is that they can explain the creation of the universe using this theory and understand what happened before the big bang. They suggest that there are infinite parallel universes. Here is part 1. You can get all the other parts on youtube.

Fun fun, i did some research on M theory a while back, probably need to refresh on it though. Isn't our universe, according to M theory, a membrane and all the other parallel universes membranes as well? the boundaries between the membranes very thin?

Yes, something to that effect. New universes are formed when these universes "collide" with each other. Supposedly universes share a lot of things as well...gravity, energy, etc.

That's right I remember a bit more now. Wouldn't that explain dark matter as well?
