Warner the weak link? Who was the Cardinals strong like?

The Defense that laid down at the end of the game?

Perhaps their running game, which put up an eye-popping 33 yards?

Or the QB that threw for 377 yards, 3 TD's and put up a 112.25 QB rating. When was the last time anyone did any of the three (377 passing, 3 TD's passing, 112.25 or higher QB rating) against Pittsburgh, or for that matter, who has ever thrown for more then 377 yards in a SB game? (1 - Warner. 414 yards in SB 34)

I don't know why people post such idiocy.

I guarantee you, Chicago and Minnesota are on the phone with Warner's agent right now. They would kill to have him behind Center.

Warner is one of the biggest clutch QB's in the big game ever, as evidenced by the number of times he has put his team ahead or tied on the final drive of a playoff game.

    His numbers speak for themselves.

For those who say "Yeah, but his team didn't win the game" you can say the same about Dan Marino and a few other fine QB's.

Does any QB have a higher QB rating in the Super Bowl then Kurt Warner?

If so, post it. I don't think anyone does. Not even Montana.

You don't put up the kind of numbers Warner has in Super Bowls without being something special.

If my life depended on a final drive in the Super Bowl and I could pick the QB, it would be Warner.

AZ made the fatal mistake of going to a Prevent Defense on the final Pittsburgh drive instead of keeping the pressure on Big Ben and forcing a punt like they did on the last PIT possession. A punt that came after a Safety.

Amazing. Warner puts up one of the best games ever in a Super Bowl, against the top Defense in the league and someone says Warner was the weak link.

How many points would the Cardinals have scored tonight with Matt Leinart? Not that Leinart would have got them there, but how many?

    Probably none. Less then 10

The Steelers allowed less then 14 ppg this season.

The Cards scored 21 tonight. All Warner passing TD's.

The Steelers allowed an average of 237 ypg this season, the Cards rang up over 400 tonight, 377 in the air.

Anyone who watched tonights game and thinks Warner was the weak link or was the reason they lost must have not watched the game, or they know nothing about NFL football.

AZ lost because the Cardinals couldn't stop Pittsburgh from driving 88 yards in the final 2:00 minutes and scoring the game-winning TD

BTW, if the Cards defense holds, the Cards win, Warner is named game MVP - what would you be saying then?

That Warner is done. That he has nothing left? Now do you understand how ridiculous your statement is?

Warner put his team in a position to win, but the Defense couldn't hold and thus they lost.

Blah, blah blah blah blah....the Cards lost because they didn't score enough points. Warner is the center point for the offense to score points. Specially since they didn't bother to run the ball.
He's got a few years as a back up left in him for sure.

    this argument is stupid.

warner is not done. he is a great QB when he has receivers like he currently has. fitzgerald is really incredible.

roethlisberger and holmes won this game for the steelers. the D had a couple big sacks and that runback, but the steelers passing offense looked as good as it has all year, if not better, and that last drive where holmes caught 4 passes, including the one over 3 cardinals, is how they won the game.

They started exploiting those deep safeties in general towards the end, like on that Arrington play.

I dont get the one play you are saying blew the game. You are referring to the Harrison interception?
    1) It was a bad throw, on an awesome defensive play
    2) NO ONE can tackle that motherfucker? People had their chances.
    3) Arizona was up late in the game, and their defense couldnt get it done. Warner got them up, and did what he could.

No he decided to START looking deeper. And started sitting in the pocket longer. But still chased himself out of it out of fear.
But I thought you said they weren't throwing deep because the safetys were playing deep....
Only when Warner finally felt that the game was actually on the line did he start looking down field more. And the plays they showed of Fitz open in the first half. That was Warner not looking.

    1. Wait did you say it was a "BAD THROW"?! Harrison had to take 1 step to pick it off...
    2. Yes NO ONE can tackle that guy, EVER! (semantic point because he should have never had the ball in the first place)
    3. The defense had already held the Steelers to 13 points at that point (with 2+ minutes left in the game). Which is impressive as it was. Warner and the offense didn't score enough points to make a difference....thanks to Warner's INT run back for 100 yards for a TD. Which was THE difference in the game. And the fact he was running around the pocket in the first half and not looking downfield.

It was too little too late for the Arizona offense. Leaning on a tired defense (that had done a pretty damned good job) that late in the game was asking for trouble. It should have never come to that if Warner had done his job right...which is to score more points than the other team. Not just when they HAVE to.
The Arizona defense had 2 goal line stands back to back...

He scared himself too much to throw any further till the 4th quarter. Rookie stuff there.

Okay jflip and I don't see eye to eye on pretty much anything, but in this case I am 100% in agreeance with what he said above. I dislike certain teams for certain reasons, but on pretty much any team there is a player (or players) that I admire and who I think deserves a ring. In this case I am not particularly fond of the Cardinals (they are in my teams division [however shitty the NFC west has been lately] so I rooted for them in the playoffs and the superbowl).

As for this game, I really don't think it failed to prove anything to us that we didn't already know. We knew Kurt Warner would throw to Fitzgerald for 100+ yards and at least a touchdown. We also knew that Pittsburg's defense would be the difference in this game; if they made big plays they would win. All season long Pittsburg won huge games because of their defense.

Despite the fact that I'm a Seahawks fan (and I hate the steelere because of Super Bowl XL), I really have to give respect to the Steelers. They won because of defense, and they had the best defense that I have seen in my lifetime.

I thought it was a great game. I wish the Cards would have won, but whatever.

    Another stat:
414 Kurt Warner, St. Louis vs. Tennessee, XXXIV
377 Kurt Warner, Arizona Vs. Pittsburgh, XLIII
365 Kurt Warner, St. Louis vs. New England, XXXVI
357 Joe Montana, San Francisco vs. Cincinnati, XXIII
Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia vs. New England, XXXIX (FUUUUUCK YEAH DONOVAN!)

Second most yards in Superbowl History.

One more: Career QB rating in Superbowl History
127.8 Joe Montana, San Francisco, 4 games
    122.8 Jim Plunkett, Oakland-L.A. Raiders, 2 games
112.8 Terry Bradshaw, Pittsburgh, 4 games

    Kurt Warner was 112.3 today

But you know......Hes the weak link.

Yes 112.3 because he was too scared to throw it any deeper than 10 yards. Thus the high percentage.
