    My grille badge collection

I wanted to see if any of you guys collected any type of automotive memorabilia and also wanted to share my personal collection of random stuff. Here we go:

    My grille badges

I just started collecting these last year. None of them are particularly rare, but they are sorta hard to come by if you're not shopping on ebay for them. The grille is from an old Jaguar XJ. The Stuttgart badge is my latest addition.

These are probably my most interesting pieces. I thought they were an older style of badge that you might mount on a light bar or something, but it turns out that they're license plate toppers. I'm still unclear as to how they were displayed on cars in the '30s. The one on the left is from the Order of Oddfellows and I thought the one on the right had something to do with freemasonry but apparently it's for some labor union.

My medallion of St. Christopher. My understanding is that these were like good luck charms that you'd put on your car back in the day (?). This particular one was made in Germany in the '60s and is smaller than most other examples I've found. Written behind the glass in very small letters is the motorist's prayer. The kidneys are dirty because they just came off my car.

    Magazines

Just a few of the old magazines I've collected over the years. I got all the Autoweeks for a dollar at a garage sale. Not pictured is my Turbo magazine issue #1 from 1983. I also collect the car ads from old Time and Life magazines. Those are fun to look at.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. If you have similar collections, post 'em up!

Wow some of those are nice, the only ones I've encountered is the ones mercedes used to give when you drive a certain amount of miles.

Yeah, the regional badges were fairly common to find in the U.S. in the '80s but not so much any more. You can still find new old stock in mom and pop type auto parts stores (that's how I got the Scotland badge).

Those high mileage club badges are pretty cool. I came across one from Volvo that said the car completed 300,000 miles.

I see in your sig you have a BMWCCA badge. How would I get one? Do they give them out when you join or what?

You have to be a BMWCCA member to order one. I have both versions, but like this one the best. I think they are $25?

The other version is an outline of the United States.

ok, cool. I was going to join up this year anyway. I'll probably end up getting both as well.

Definitely worth the cost IMO...I am proud to be a member.

The monthly "Roundel" magazine is worth it alone.

I bought the badge under the impression that it was from the Skull and Bones society (the all-seeing eye made me think it was masonic too). I just love the lore surrounding secret societies. The Oddfellows are a cool enough fraternal organization though, so I'm still proud of it.
