this camera is supposedly the best pocketable point and shoot compact camera...and its way less than 300. the other advantage is it is a canon, so the control scheme with the menus will most likely be very similar to the 10d, although tweaked.

      Canon SD1100

also, olympus cameras use their own flash format, called xD, so you wont be able to use the SD card from your other camera if you want.

also also, SD cards are super cheap on amazon. 4gb will give you a few thousand pics at 8MP. http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Class...3764284&sr=8-6

Correct on the flash memory, I just plug it into my laptop though. DLD's fast.

Get any of the Sony Cybershot DSC-Wxxx whichever one you want to pay for. W170 is less than 2 while the W300 is just over 3 bills.

I have an SD1000, which looks like the older version of the 1100. I have to say its fucking TITS. Picture I took with it for reference.

And the controls are much better than anything I have ever used by sony. Please dont buy a sony, just dont do it.

x2 on the Canon, I bought my girlfriend one recently and it is super compact and takes great pictures. The only small issue is the power of the flash, it is a little weak.

I like my Panasonic DMC-TZ3. Its 7.1MP with a 10x optical zoom, with a 28mm wide Leica lens. So if you have a tripod you can do great stuff with it, but it also fits in your pocket. Lots of cool presets too.

Cost me less than $300 with a case, extra battery, and some SD cards.

EDIT: There is also a TZ6 already with 10 megapixelz and 12x zoom. Hope that helps!

oh yeah i forgot about the panasonic lumix line. their cameras are top of the line as well. the canon for $150 though is a sweet price, and i dont think the lumices come close with the same specs, although for closer to $250 or so you get some nice optical zoom and other luxury features (720p video, for example).

Nikon Coolpix 550. 10MP with 5 Optical Zoom

That's the one we use, and it's amazing for a point a shoot.
