    Alternative For foot pain advice.

    Alternative for foot pain
I have a friend of mine in my class who had extensive surgery done a year ago to repair a broken foot. He first had screws installed but then the screws broke and they installed tight ropes on his bones to keep the foot fused together. Now with him being in a 2 year internship with little insurance and hardly any income that mostly goes to school he is experiencing extreme pain all the time. He went back to his foot doctor but the doctor told him he needed to quit school and automatically have another surgery that will keep him off his feet for over 6 months. My idea was for him get a prescription from his doctor for some pain meds and take a quick trip down to Mexico through Yuma and get the meds from them and bring them back, my only concern is if the American side allows him to bring the meds back over. Other than that I have no other ideas to help him out and the only thing that helps him through the day is some kind of pain killer. He is not a junkie looking for a fix he is just simply trying to buy himself some time till he can have the surgery after he graduates from our program. If he can’t get a pain meds from Mexico what would be his best next choice for him to manage the pain.

Your "friend" needs to not fuck around with foot issues. Is the internship worth his ability to walk? You don't go putting band-aids on bulletholes, do you? Pain killers is not the solution, medical care is. Don't be youthful and try to give some advise to someone that could ruin their life. Be a good friend and tell him to get it taken care of the right way.

he should quit school and get his shit taken care of. if he isnt a junkie now he soon will be. he probably has a better chance of getting fixed if he has no job or insurance anyway.. or so it seems

Yeah great call - wait until all of the broken bones in his foot die.

Yes, and they can die and then decay if they don't heal.

wow, wrong place to ask for advice. since i stated he cant quit the program because it was impossible to get in that would be a waste of a years worth of work he has already gone through. Yes putting a band aid on a bullet wound is pointless but thats why i was simply asking for someone who might have a little bit of a medical back ground to say something.

Yeah, that's me. If he wants to walk for the rest of his life he needs to see a doctor NOW. There's no way around it - you can't put the damage on temporary hold. His broken bones in his foot WILL die if untreated - after which he will likely have to get his entire foot/ankle fused. Don't be a dipshit.

PS - this isn't the "Wrong" place - it's just the place with the hard to swallow real answers.
