    Cell phone chargers

So doea leaving your cell phone charger pkugged in when not in use really draw any electricity?

I have seen these commercials on tv saying to unplug when not in use because it is bad for the utility bill, or is it just hippies whining?

I find it hard to believe that I would even see a noticeable difference plugged in or not.

What's next? unplug yoiur tv when not in use, microwave, clothes washer/dryer.

    Just curious.

    I've wondered the same thing.

I naturally unplug stuff like laptop & phone chargers when they're not in use anyways.

If it does, I can't imagine it draws much.

just about everything that is plugged in in your house draws current even when not in use...especially TVs as they are not actually off when you turn them off but, rather, on standby. This is done so that you, the consumer, can have the luxury of remote controls

as far as the cell charger goes...I say yes, but only becuase my daddy told me so...he got his masters degree from georgetown in electrical engineering

My phone is OLD as hell and I keep it plugged in all night every night and the battery lasts a couple days at least. I don't car if it uses a little energy, Obama will take care of it.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

It potentially can cause a fire if left plugged in. All cell phone chargers are is a transformer. When current goes through a transformer, the electrical resistance builds up heat. This heat has the potential to catch the charger on fire if something goes wrong.

Nitro what are the transormers doing? Stepping down current and voltage? Making AC in to DC?
