    Momo Fighter Helmet: Opinions

What helmets do you enjoy using? I'm personally looking for a new helmet for use while riding my HD Nightster.

This is what a Nightster looks like:

    Recommendations???

If you hate the helmet can you recommend anything that you do like? I need a helmet because currently I use something that is considered a "Novelty Helmet" ie; it doesn't pass any safety tests and would do anything but keep me from possibly get a ticket for lack of a helmet.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

You may be the first Harley rider to ever wear a helmet.

Helmet laws buddy. Look around, what state are you in? The helmet I wear now is about 1mm thick.

Here's a good place I just found to look at various helmets: http://www.designerhelmets.com

I'm trying to find a cool one that doesn't look completely homo.

Yea really, those helmets to me look more suited to a Cunningham C4-R
or 300SLR. Don't know why but it does, and I don't know why since if it flips your probably dead anyways in those cars.

Just did a search the non glossy ones look good. Do you have any pictures with it being worn, I can't get a good visual with the helmet on a white background.

I'm in Ohio. All of the drunks repealed the helmet laws because it made it harder for them to see their own reflection in the chrome.

That helmet will be great unless you actually crash. No face protection = completely fucking idiotic.

But hey, if you think the skin on your face, your teeth, jaw and cheek bones have a chance against asphalt, concrete or another vehicle............go right ahead.

I just find it amusing that your more worried about getting a ticket for your helmet vs. it actually protecting you in the event of a crash.

I know I know, but all the sport bike helmets don't see quite right on my bike. I do have one that I wear but I also get kinda crazy wearing a full enclosed (safe) helmet. You feel like you're in a video game or your own little bubble. The open air worthless helmet I have actually makes me feel safe because my senses aren't impaired. I can see and hear everything around me.

I thought the same thing. I planned to buy a sport bike or Ducati Monster or something but when I saw thing sitting in the showroom I was hooked. I get so many guys saying "I really hate Harley's and non sportbikes in general, but I've got to admit I love your bike". All my friends and family were like, that doesn't look like a crotch rocket?". Its a real fun bike. Its small enough to be nimble and its 1200cc, so its no slouch. It has a lot of torque. I've went 100+ on it with a real helmet.

I had a semi-truck clip a car and send it spinning if front of me and the motorcycle the happened to be following me in the carpool lane one morning in traffic. I was so lucky becuase right before that I'd been thinking "I wonder if I'd be able to stop in time or avoid being killed if a car wrecked in front of me". So I was playing with me brakes when *BAM* it happened. I stopped like 10 feet from the lady and looked at the guy on the bike behind me. His eye's were popping out of his head. We kinda shook our heads at each other in disbelief and road away (the lady was ok). It was odd, I didn't even get an adrenaline rush or anything.

I think it's a little ridiculous you are using/shopping for a helmet for style reasons.

Seems like less of a question on helmet advise and more of a thread on style tips, but that seems to be the trend with most HD riders (no hate on HD I'm a Bueller myself)

buy a QUALITY full face helmet and those thngs aren't a concern, but if you don't think your head is worth a $500-600 that will buy a top of line Shoei or Arai, that's your thing.

I'll see if I can find my Shoei X-11 that I trashed at the track and take a pic to show the minimal damage from me getting booted off my bike at close to 65. Ended up with a concussion but walked away.

Sorry, I forgot to throw in some advise. Definitely full face, there are a ton out there that I'm sure you can find that will match your bike as well as allow you full visibility/hearing (I don't know why you are having trouble with this in the first place). I wouldn't say you have to spend in the $500-600 range, as there are many quality helmets out there that are DOT and SNELL approved starting around $300. I suggest taking a look at some of your local dealers and if you find the one you like then look online for the best price. Take care, ride safe.
