fixed blade/auto/butterfly's /=/ Illegal to carry in NY even if you can get a CCW. Spring assisted is legal. But really if your life comes down to skill with a blade Your tatics suck and something has gone really really bad. I have no intentions of letting someone with a knife or a stick get close enough to harm me with it. Throw it at me, You will end up dead before you get the chance to throw another one
So yeah you are limited in your options. And people wonder why I wont live in NY this is one reason among many

Generally projectile weapons are better than close combat weapons for first strike.Leave a comment:

I never have been in a fight where I needed to use a weapon. I do carry a knife when I go out, but it is not for fighting of any sort. I would rather talk about it or walk away. I will defend myself though. But that is after the first two.
I grew up watching old "kung fu" movies and then took karate for 7 years. So that is where the Bali-song comes in. I also own two swords and a bo staff.
I would use one of my throwing knifes for self defense over a spring loaded knife.Leave a comment:

I dont get butterfly knives. Its gotta be a kungfu thing. Autoknives make more sense for knife self defense.
A subcompact 9mm handgun makes the MOST sense for self defense.

I have been into the art of Bali-song since I was 12. I am going to replace my old one for a newer more well made one. I also have been throwing knifes just as long.
Anyone else throw or use a Bali-song(butterfly)?
I am looking into Benchmade for a new bali-song:
And narrowed it down to two brands for throwers:

With you there, man!I never leave home without my Benchmade Torrent 890.
All I've ever owned is Benchmade. The 943 osbournes are pretty nice as well.
My friends have had good experience with both Boker and Gerber knives as well. I'm sure those have been mentioned ;)Leave a comment:

^^^ i agree whole-heartedly. If you aren't trained to handle a knife offensively or defensively, just use something else.
Or else I will come see you and give you a ride in my big white tuck with flashing lights.Leave a comment:

Just read some of this thread. WOW.
I use a knife almost everyday.
If you purchase one of these tools, that you can open with one hand, use, then replace with the same hand, you might truly be amazed.
Trust me, the first time, you utilize this amazing new tool in this manner, you too will be a convert.
When there are three assholes, bird doggen your women on the street, It just might bring a little extra perk to your step. Or are you gonna bolt?
Pro tip: Using a knife for self defense(or offense as you imply ) is generally ill-advised if you don't know what you are doing, and based on the way you talk, you don't. This is particularly true when dealing with more than one "asshole bird doggen your women on the street." Mace is a far superior tool to use in this case.
Don't say I didn't warn you.Leave a comment:
