Go for a large dirt bike motor. A yz450f motor is relatively inexpensive, light, and has a huge parts catalog.

Maybe not in that format, but if it's a inboard a motor's a motor no? I've seen plenty of boats with sbc's this is just a smaller scale. It's a 52hp motor and the entire bike weighs 213. I'm pretty sure the new ones are fuel injection too.

I got that, how you going to mount a IN board in that thing????? 2 things, 1: where you going to put it a all the necessary shit to make it work and still have room for your self. 2: a dirt bike motor dosent have the torque to spin a prop that hard it would never get spun up to RPM boats usually run a 1:1 ratio.

And as said above, newer motors make more horsepower with less weight.. and the engine guys at the boat shop would probably nut in there pants and then steer you in the absolute right direction..

A.) Get a decent outboard with good output

or

B.) Retrofit the entire driveline out of a seadoo to fit

33.25ft/lbs, The motor is tiny, about 1 and a half feet tall maybe 8 inches wide. That thing could fit in the storage compartment. Mount it sideways, run a prop shaft out the back. I'm not saying it's the best possible motor for the job, it's just a neat one thats proven reliable, has pleanty of go fast mods availible.
