Tips on driving in the snow?

I'm driving my newly purchased e30 from chicago to texas over the next couple of days. I'm going to have to deal with some snow on the way.

I've seen snow 3 times in my life and have never driven in it. Hell, I've never seen it stick to the street.

Any quick tips? I know I need to give myself tons of room to brake, but what else?

Drive slow, defensively, and make deliberate slow moves (i.e. easy coming on and off the throttle, leave tons of stopping distance, turn wide, etc)

Drive fast, aggressively, and make deliberately quick moves (i.e. floor the throttle and brake hard, tail gate, do e-brake turns, etc)

How bad is it that I'll be on all seasons?

Slow, smooth inputs no matter what. Too much throttle too fast and you get wheelspin; too much brakes too fast and you lock up/hit ABS which you may or may not want, steering input too fast and nothing happens. Your best bet if you encounter any snow, is try to find a parking lot near wherever you may be and give yourself a crash course (no pun intended) on how a car feels in snow.

It's like running slicks in the rain but not as predictable.

              Be safe.

put about 100lbs of sand or water softener salt in the trunk, you will be able to go almost anywhere in the snow all seasons are kinda scary but better than my G forces trying to get down my drive way today. Yeah I snuck my e30 out to day had some really good clean roads, and warmer and sunny.

I'm buying the car from Dan (schnell3er). You should swing by - we'll be installing plastics on the front tomorrow around 11 or so.

Dans a good guy I bought some door shells off him a while back an had buddy pick them up for me.

Get a bag of ice melt just in case you do get in a slick spot and need a bit of traction on the ice, auto trans should be good enough for weight.

Unlikely there will be enough snow on the main roads to affect anything, but try not to unbalance the car. Keep it slow and smooth, plan your moves ahead. If you're in an area with intersections and light traffic, turn the steering wheel and floor it. You don't get the opportunity often. ;)

Just drive slow, don't be an asshole, etc etc. No reason to worry about a bit of snow, just keep distance.

                              Keep it slideways!!
