You do realize that the stimulus was passed only a few days ago?

Obama also has a nice plan in the works to lower the budget deficit. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090222/...h/obama_budget

Even though it's only a few days old, it's been known to be coming for a couple of weeks now, where is the upswing in the markets from the confidence of such a fine piece of legislation.

I found this little gem at the bottom of that link,

Obama's budget director, Peter Orszag, told lawmakers recently that even after the economy recovers, annual deficits could reach $750 billion or so and steadily exceed $1 trillion by the end of the next decade.

I think I need some purple drank, where my fucking Koolaid.

            This shit is bananas.

First off the cartoonist could have easily avoided all this talk if they simply had labeled the chip as congress/senate/dems whatever...

Second I think they left that label off on purpose to get people taking about a newspaper and maybe start buying more of them to see what the paper would print next.

Honestly if you don't know who wrote the bill you shouldn't be allowed to vote. I would also argue this point if you don't know the difference between the national deficit and the national debt.

Now I'd be willing to accept the outrage if the same outrage was there with every portrayal of Bush as a monkey/dumbass. News?? fair and balanced my ass. don't be sheep people.

i agree with regnu. bush took a media beating from minute one of his term, then 911 hit, and the only thing Americans want is to be safe, regardless of cost. How quickly our vision changes when there aren't any open attacks on us! Now it's all about how Bush ran us into the recession, and after less than a month on the job, poor obama needs a three-day retreat to Chi-town for Valentine's day. Give me a break. obama is nothing more than an empty suit, full of sound bites and sports references. He's turning the white house into a gen-x playground, his cabinet members are tax-dodging assholes with their sneaker-shod feet on the desks, etc. he only has one thing in common with abraham lincoln; he's an aggressive pol who will say anything that gets him elected. he doesn't possess any of the dutiful traits our first REPUBLICAN president had. (btw, obama's paternal heritage is African Muslim, don't forget his father and uncle tried to usurp the Kenyan government in a coup attempt. his maternal heritage is a woman who jumped on a Kenyan's junk and got knocked up, then when the father abandoned them, she had her folks raise her mixed-race bastard in Hawaii. wtf did she do after that?) so now we have a bastard mixed-race American President who hails from radical muslim roots. He even quoted in his book about how his father was the greatest single influence in his life. It's amazing what the all-powerful Hollywood/NY media can do to elect their candidate of choice. Is this a great country or what?

              God help us all.

I'm sorry Tom, but you're absolutely wrong. I was talking about this exact thing with my wife last night.

The portrayal of the monkey in the comic is meant to represent the government as a whole, being a bunch of chimps who can't be controlled and wrote (what some believe) to be a garbage economic stimulus plan. People with your mindset however, automatically played the racist card and assumed it was meant to portray Obama.

This is EXACTLY how the next 4 years, possibly 8, are going to be played out. ANYTHING that can possibly be construed as racist because he's black is going to becme a major media fiasco.

Obama is not black. Obama is not white. He is half black, and half white. I'd like to use paint as an example here: let's say we take a can of Apline III and pour half of it down the drain. (The EPA? Fuck the EPA.) Then take a can of Schwarz I and pour half of that into your can of Alpine III and stir until the two are evenly blended. You would then have gray so using that logic, Barack Obama is now a Gray President. All you gray activists better get your shit together...

It's a moot point, Brendan. You'll never convince the majority as a whole of that, and taking away the best bargaining chip the liberals have ever had will never happen.

At this point, I would like to add that I am an independent and side with neither the republicans or the democrats.

Don Imus didn't just say nappy hair. He called them nappy-headed hoes.
