We get a $12.00 a week tax cut, which will turn into a $24.00 a week tax increase soon, while Obama and Dodd get 100k each from AIG, then they put on a dog and pony show about how outraged they are that AIG is paying bonuses to their execs and the MSM happily parrots them.

Obama has been in office for less then 2 months and he is by far the worst President I've ever seen, and I remember the Jimmy Carter era.

    This guy is a disaster.

    His incompetence is staggering.

What was the point of this whole new thread? Judging from your avatar and starting this thread, you were looking to start an argument.

Is this really important enough to start another BS political thread on? Are you going to post "facts" about how much money so many past presidents have recieved from financial institutions and god only knows who else?
I'm doing the job the MSM is failing to do - informing people that the President, who is acting all outraged about AIG giving out bonuses, got 103K from AIG and the MSM is ignorning this fact.

Isn't that what the internet is about - a place to exchange information?

For someone who didn't vote for Obama, you sure are spending a lot of time and energy defending his actions.

I'm going to go start a thread about how mad I am that the weather was windy and cold today, even though the weather man promised me earlier in the week that it was going to be sunny and in the 60's. We get a day or so of sun, which will turn into 4" of snow soon, while Texas and Florida get nice, warm days and the AMS (American Meteorological Society) is ignoring this fact. I'll be doing the job that the Weather Channel is failing to do.

This weather girl has been on for less than 2 months, and she is by far the worst meterologist I've ever seen.

        This girl is a disaster.

        Her incompetence is staggering.

(if you can't see what I'm doing, I'm bitching as much as you are about something I don't really have any control over, so I just learn to roll with it)

I applaud your efforts. Please carry on in a similar fashion.

As for the rest of you, why is it so wrong to start a political thread (with an obvious position) discussing our current president? I seem to recall hundreds if not thousands of them started about Bush's idiocy...not to mention tv shows, movies, books, etc etc on how horrible Bush is*.

It is irresponsible to expect everyone to think alike, yet somehow we have gotten to the point where things like the presidency and politics in general have taken a turn towards Hollywood fads.

Point being, if it's considered socially acceptable to publicly bash the previous president for his shortcomings...why would it be any different for this one, considering his shortcomings are even more apparent?

*I am politically indifferent and do not support either party.

So start a thread and don't hijack this one.

I happen to care about the fact that the Government is pissing away our money without any accountability or oversight.

They didn't bother to even read the details of this bailout, and now were are starting to see the results of their incompetence.

Just because you don't care doesn't mean others don't.

It's like we have a drunk 15 year old at the wheel, driving us towards a cliff and people are sitting around saying "so?"

I wonder what distraction technique the Obama administration is going to use tomorrow?

We have no control over the weather, but we have control over elected politicians who work for us.

If some people choose to say "so what" then so be it, but I'm not going to be one of them.

Actually, that's what they are counting on - apathy. If the public is apathetic, they can screw us over up and down, left and right.

If we raise a big stink, and their precious approval ratings go down, then they will rethink their position.
              This applies to all politicians.

They work for us. It's time we started acting like it.

If you want to remain apathetic, fine, but don't mock people who aren't apathetic and who actually care about the future of this country and where and how our tax dollars are spent.

Your inability to separate the concepts of "don't care" and "have no control over the situation" are what get me.

I believe he might be commenting on your unwillingness to attempt to take control of the situation.

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.(quote taken out of context and not properly worded for this particular
situation, but the general idea is there)

And what, praytell, would you have me, or rather us, do?

I voted for the other guy. I'm told my whole life that my vote makes a difference. Made a pretty big one, clearly. I DID what was in my power to do.

Which makes perfect sense, because I'm the guy sitting next to him telling him what he's doing is alright. I'm the members of his appointed cabinet. I'm the senate and the house, voting to pass all of the ridiculous shit he puts forth. Government at that level has absolutely NOTHING to do with you, me, or anyone else that thinks that being a registered voter creates change. Except for all the people that got swindled by that word.

Tell me, what exactly are you planning to do about it, since you're not one of these "enablers" you so righteously claim I am?

Next in line for a bailout - the newspapers.

The same newspapers that give about 80% of their campaign contributions to the Dems.

                            No problem there though.

What's another few hundred Billion of our tax dollars going to an entity that supports the party that controls Congress and the Presidency?

                            No conflict of interest there.

Maybe if there was a direct deduction on people's paychecks, something like "Government Bailout Tax - $78.26" every two weeks you might start caring.

But because the cost is being hidden with smoke and mirrors, I guess that makes it OK

Who do you think is paying for all these bailouts?

And who is getting money from these companies that are being bailed out?

We're paying for it, while the politicians who are giving these companies our tax dollars, then feign outrage over bonuses, are themselves benefiting financially.

It's like one big money laundering scam.

Maybe this is the difference the general public should be fighting for...?

Instead of fighting over the decisions of a specific president (not that it doesn't deserve a diatribe here or there) we should be fighting for our rights as citizens of the free world rather than giving our vote away to some lost cause. It actually sickens me to think of where we are now.

For one, I'm posting on internet boards and opening people's eyes instead of being apathetic and saying "so what?"

What if everyone acted the way you did?

And what if everyone was outraged as I am?
