Looking at a 91 525i Euro. Any thoughts, may buy today

OK as much as I hate to do this but I’m going to sell my project before I even get to start on it. I have to remove the cars THIS WEEK !!!
I have a black 91 BMW EURO 525i with tan interrior. The car has the better m50 motor and has 267K and still blows ice cold A/C.
I have added most of the * M5 styling (ft bmpr slatts, mirr.,headlight surronds/grills, Elippsoid Hella Euro Lights (ready for HID kit NOT INCLD.), side marker in ft fenders) * Euro lights (all yellow switched to red tails&corners) and also has a set of ** E39 Deep Dish BBS 17" Sport wheels ($800 alone) * Sportline Trim.. (chrome window trim taken black) * m50 motor option (more pwr/reliable) and a set of Bavarian AutoSport Springs. it also has a very nice and crisp sound on the inside w/ a Clarion Mosfet CD player.

***** CAR RUNS! BUT NOT TAGGED OR INSPECTED PLEASE READ ADD COMPLETELY BEFORE REPLYING !!!!! ******
The car does run but has some issues to still be handled. * Needs various suspension parts replaced (has the OEM/outdated coilovers). * The interrior was in the process of being replaced W/ 2 tone look blk/tan (mostly drivers seat needs attn) * OBC works and all windows and sunroof work (drivers regulator going out) * Brakes need to be attended to

    * have the orgnl. bill of sale when I picked it up 3 years ago (never switched into my name/ NO TITLE)
But these cars are all over the net for as much as $5k in worse shape. I'm asking $3500 @ the start, but futher mishapps have brought me to sell it for a Very Low Price THIS WEEK END ONLY OF $2000

    Pull the trigger?

91 Euro? Why do you say it is "Euro"?

    M50 non-vanos (less torque)
    267k miles
    No title
    Some "issues" to be handled
    Brake problems

    $2000? You meant $200, right?
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Came with "euro" coilovers, which need replacing, brakes are not terrible..so he says. It will drive but needs the obvious tags and inspection. The M50 has less torque than a m20?.. what are you comparing to? I dont know much about 5ivers and is why Im asking.

M54 would be pref but... hey.. seems a lot of potential in the car with suspension and brakes. Which I DIY.

Engine is 267k miles and is worth nothing.

Somebody on this board is selling the same car, without engine, for a couple of hundreds.

Ad says "Very Low Price THIS WEEK END ONLY OF $2000 " because next week it will sell for $200.

Massive... how bout a deal on a brake kit?

"Euro" means the coilovers and M50 were stock for euro models. The guy has updated the Hellas and ellipsoids, front bumper vents, etc. to euro stuff. Mechanically I dont think the coilovers were on NA models, the M50, I dunno. It has no leaks, small PS leak from a hose. Needs suspension ( HR cup Kit for 700, brakes for 500, Im thinking).. its black and looks pretty good.

I DIY a lot so, no problems with the fixes.

            Any opinions?? Please

Why would I tell you to search? That's one guy with a white e30 who used the engine for his own e30. If i find it this aternoon, I will post the link. His thread dates from this week.

European e34 had the same suspension setup that US cars did, none came with "coilovers" stock. And what the hell is a "euro" coilover, how is it different? And lots of e34s have m50s, so thats no catch there.

                  a 91 525i came with a non-vanos m50, which is more desirable than an m20 but has less torque than a m50tu(vanos).

no e34s came with m54s, that engine was introduced in 98 or 99 (I think)

get the price down or move on

Passed on the car. It was, well, not acceptable.

I wonder, and am askin you guys, why get a 5 vs. 3. Merits of each. Maybe this is OFF topic and someone wont flame me for such a noobish thread? eh?

                      Im thinking:

5 > Bigger, could be faster and good weight to power if its stripped out for a tracker. Parts not as available. Probably a good DD Im thinking, in city traffic for sure.

3 > Lighter, agile, known to be fast with M5x swaps. Classic, lots of parts available. We all like um. Probably easier to live with while building up.

What do you guys think. And pardon the noobishness, eh. Help me out here anyway ok?

Why do you keep calling it coilovers and it has BavAuto springs which are one of the worse. Car was not special, glad you passed. Whats with all the M stuff that it is supposed to have?

If you are trying to get a 5 and then strip it to get its weight down, you are wasting your time. These cars are big and heavy. Not saying it can't happen It is a strong chassis, nimble for it's size and a lot of weight is extra luxury stuff but you are still better off with a different car. Aftermarket has everything you will need and about all engine mods can be taken from E36s.

I say first figure out what you want the car for and then you can decide which model will suit you the best.

Id agree with sayin a stripped out 5 is pretty much a waste of time.

An e28-e34-e39 fiver makes a super daily driver with great comfort and soft suspension. Just too big and soft for the track.
