You guys go on and on about how bad socialism is and how big government is bad but you really haven't thought about the alternative. Capitalism is the real bully here.

In the early days of capitalism, before European social reforms of the 19th Century, men, women and children worked 16 hour days in highly dangerous and miserable factories for dirt wages. Most people didn't go to school, because there was no public education, and life expectancy was around 30 years due to highly dangerous working conditions. THIS IS CAPITALISM FOLKS!! Without the checks and balances of social programs, Capitalism IS the government.

It wasn't until drastic social change happened, mostly in France, that people started getting paid more reasonable wages, public education sprang up and people began living longer and more fulfilling lives.

France, one of the more socialist countries, has one of the highest standards of living and life expectancies on the planet. Just remember that when you use socialism with a bad connotation. Were not talking about Communist Soviet Union or China, but socialist France.

I understand that socialism is a hard concept to grasp, especially given how much of a capitalist country we are. But once we get over that hump and implement massive social reforms, things will be MUCH better. Everybody will have access to public education, health care and jobs. Everybody can live a good life rather than just the person who is fortunate enough to make enough money.

there are no jobs, there is permanent high unemployment, nothing to look forward to. they want out.
your looking into a vacuum when you argue socialism is better. maybe ina utopian pipe dream, but when tried by mortals and all our collective weaknesses and prejiduces, it flat out does not work as a central form of government.

None, we keep handing them money. Dont get me wrong, I fuckin hate it too.. The program exists to help those in need, and it does just that, but there are plenty of abusers, and they need to die.

i was a conservative long before military service. my parents were both democrats and i never agreed with their views. my mother has finally come around but my dad died a hard core democrat
