    Photoshop question

guys- i've been using photoshop forever (7.0, CS, CS2) and one selection method has evaded me in my recent upgrade to cs3.

in older versions, you could Ctrl+Click on layers in the layers list and it would automatically select the bounding edges of said layer. in cs3 this is not the case and that selection method does nothing. in order to achieve this i have to hide all the other layers and use the magic wand tool to select the empty space, then invert the selection (WAY to many steps). can anyone shed some light on this? i've checked all the shortcut lists for cs3 and nothing works.
    thanks in advance.

In cs4 command+clicking the little picture of that layer in the layers pannel does just what you described. Don't know why it would be missing in cs3. (mac, by the way)

Be sure you're actually clicking inside the small bounding box in the layer from the layer menu while holding down the control key. That is definitely there though, you're doin' something wrong...
