    How to embed youtube video?

It sucks being old. When I post a link to a youtube, it looks like a line of underlined text. Yawn. When you text-savvy young punks do it, there's a picture that you can click on and play the video right in the forum thread. How do you do that?

just use the Youtube button in the Advanced post menu, and then paste your YouTube URL...
Unless you're doing that an it's not working, in which case I have no idea. I'm no newfangled computer hacker

      ^Lolz - help fail.

Actually he is right but you don't put the WHOLE url in. You only put the video tag. So a youtube video with a URL like:

You only put in the o4R5zD_BCC4

Sometimes the URL is longer and there is a bunch of extra stuff after that code, but it usually easy to see where the code stop and the other web stuff begins - I think it unusally end with &.

      HTH.

Look, I'm usually (semi) joking around about being such a Luddite, but I seriously don't know what you mean about "advanced post menu." I've monkeyed around with all the "reply" and "quote" screens and don't see anything like that. I'm sure it's really obvious, but could you explain it?

Im pretty fucking sure that goes with all things...

OP: when you go to write a "quick reply" down at the bottom of a thread, theres a button next to "post quick reply" that says "go advance". Click on that button then look at the top of the text box where it says B I U and a couple other pics. There should be a YOUTUBE icon. Click on that...Its the last one on the right. Its white and red...

Wrong answers that lead to right answers are part of the process - no worries. An advantage of the forum format is that correct answers tend to fall out of the thread eventually. I had to try 3 or 4 times before I got it right.

The text in your post should look like this:
                      PHP Code:
                      [YOUTUBE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4R5zD_BCC4[/YOUTUBE]
                      Like an
                      PHP Code:
                      [img]whatever[/img
                      but with "youtube" instead.

funcrew, this thread really cracked me up. I'm coming up on my half-century mark in a few months myself and couldn't figure out to embed shit for the life of me. I blame it on the programmers not being able to make it user-friendly.
