HDR is an editing technique where different exposures of the same scene are merged to get a High Dynamic Range. On top of that you can mess around with different effects to get the unusual looks seen in a lot of HDR photos. Some people feel like its played out or unrealistic I guess, I like it though. Yes that is a nuclear reactor, it's in Carlsbad, CA.

tisk tisk tisk. I know the reactors here are safe, but its just scary to think that it has the same capacity for destruction as the chernobyl disaster in 1986. I looked up chernobyl on google earth yesterday and it was pretty scary. I also didnt know that call of duty 4 modeled a few maps after chernobyl and was freaked out when I saw a few pics on panarino that were exact real life images of scenes from cod4.
          sorry for the tangent

isn't it so surreal when you play the game, then realize they did a pretty damn good job replicating it? kinda freaky. there are some incredible photographs of that area. i wish i could easily visit.

I was especially freaked out by this:

I was like holyfuckingshit I know this place. I then looked up cod4 and chernobyl and realized that infinity ward modeled some maps after pripyat (where chernobyl was).
edit: i wish i could visit too, but only if I had some sort of lead suit and oxygen tank to protect form radiation, because that shit will fuck you up.

This is not technically HDR. This is more tone mapping than HDR. Also be careful with the haloing.
