Is there a way to get the M42 to sound similar to those alpha n cars? without an s14 swap obviously, I know I have to state it...

Jim Richards (who drove E24 6ers and E30 M3s, and then R31 GTS-R and R32 GT-R Skylines in the ATCC) was telling me a couple of years ago how the 2.5 M3s were his favourite Group A cars of all time - even over the all-conquering 650+hp R32 GT-R.

He said the 2.5s would rev to over 9500rpm all day, but if you went 10,001rpm you had 15secs to shut the engine off and pull over, otherwise it'd go bang in a big, smoky, firey way. He also said the only way he ever killed an engine - apart from an over-rev - was by smashing the sump open over a curb.

Probably as much money as an S14 swap. Then you'd be stuck with S14 money and no S14 powah.

In 1986, when the M3 replaced the 635, it was clearly faster, even in the first races, before the car was even fully developped, thanks to a balanced chassis. The M3 dominated touring car racing for 5 years, which is a very long time. No wonder it's the winningest touring car ever. Those who complain about the lack of power of the S14 should take some driving lessons :pimp:
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

They didn't have the same easy success over here thanks to the Dick Johnson Sierras, the Gibson Nissans, the Frankevic Volvo and Brocky's HDT Commodores - it was a lot tighter.

Some of the other drivers reckon the only reason the BMWs had as much success as they did was because of Richard's utter genius behind the wheel.

let us not forget that a E30 M3 in touring car spec was over 300hp, and some say as much as 350hp
