Not a movie, but yesterday I was watching "How Do They Do It" on the Science Channel HD, and they were talking about how they make mufflers. In the stock footage they were showing of random race cars, they were showing a bunch of rally footage, and there was an E30 that they showed like 2-3 times. It was fucking rad.
My wife and i are always getting old and off beat movies and the one with an e30 that sticks out in my mind is The Sacrifice (1986). Sweed movie by Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky. The movie was banned, never to be seen until 2005 at an independant movie event, yet Tarkovsky never saw this as he died right after finishing it.
The family owns a black 4-door euro eta. The movie was shot with this car brand new and it sounds m20-tastic! There are scenes with it rolling over country roads and it moves smooth. the movie really displays the e30 qualities well.
Theres a scene at the end where the guy burns the house down and he was sure to back the e30 up away from the house as it catches to flames.
Weird movie, good story line, and great e30 scenes!
