    1:18 e30 ///M3 - CCCP edition

Im not sure this is the right place to post this, mods feel free to move it to its right section.

I have always wanted to mess around and modify a die cast model (I added wheels and a wing to a red one a few years ago, but nothing big). I cant afford to do it for real with my car (not yet at least) and when i scored a damaged 1:18 Blaupunkt M3 touring car... I just had to.

The theme I am going with for it is 80's Soviet military tech. In particular I want a mixed look with hints borrowed from a Hind D, and some of my favorite Migs . I have so many cool ideas, just can only do one. Wish i could find another e30 M3 model for cheap. Enjoy the pics.

taken apart and ready for a "resto"
    .

    .
sanding down at 1st with regular sand paper...(what was I thinking)
    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .
then i got smart about it and used some stripper (took less than 15min)
    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .
rear wing is plastic so i just sanded it with paper
    .

    .
    wala!!! Stainless steel look anyone?
    .

    .

    .

    .

    .
At 1st i was gonna keep the stock Ronal DTM wheels but then I sourced a set of BBS and a set of OZ Mito look alike wheels... now its between these two
    .

more to come... the shell is prepped and ready for primer. picking up decal paper on Wed or Thur to make custom transfers. still not 100% sure about the big decals but i know for sure whats going on the sides and the little details here and there.

Damn, it's not even a real car and you're still doing it right.

Paint stripper ftw, it speeds everything up... burns like hell though!

Take the sandpaper and scuff up the tread on the tires.

AH, ah, ah. It is a sad day for model collectors. A perfect Blaupunkt M3 was destroyed. ;-)
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
