Then pick up an Audio technica Pro24/CM microphone, a 16 foot 3.5mm extension, and a Windtech MM1 mic Muff (Deadcat). I got it so I could record sound with the Gopro, AND the T2i (Which I haven't played with using the mic yet)
I actually made my own deadcat (The fuzzy thing) from a scarf that was part of one of the significant others jacket. For being free, made in 10 minutes out of scrap . It worked AMAZINGLY well to cut wind noise. I do plan on picking up a real windtech, but this was just a test and I'm extremely pleased with what came out.
Also keep in mind guys, this is the first test, with the first time I attached it. My exhaust isn't quite as tinny or sharp as the video shows, but I didn't get to play around with location at all yet. First attempt. First location. And it sounds damn good as is, but it's a tad tinny/scratchy to me. Next time I go out with it and find out, probably going to mount it on the back window as I'm probably overloading the mic.
The GoPro's external microphone jack dropped the audio level. I raised it by 6.1dB in post processing to level the volume with the original gopro footage, which has tons of wind noise and boosts the low frequencies by a considerable amount. I hated it's audio. This setup cut down wind noise considerably as you will see in the video, cut down erroneously loud low end, and made everything much, much more enjoyable for an audiophile.
Anyways, that's pretty much it. Here's a couple pictures, and a short video of the difference using my car as a test bitch. So to all of you that have Gopros and want better audio. Pick up that AT Pro24/CM. You won't be disappointed. Tried to get a good round test. Cruising slow, Cruising highway, with a couple loud pedal jaunts here and there.
