How do I get my Photoshop Software to work on a new hard drive?

I have a licensed download of Photoshop I bought from ebay, which worked with the serial key on my old hard drive, but now doesn't accept the serial on my new hard drive after re-installing XP. Is there a way to find the serial key on my old hard drive (which I still have and can connect to my current working PC) and transfer it to my current hard drive? Not the biggest whiz on computers but hope this explanation is clear. Thanks.

Adobe licences, or most high end software licences for that matter, are designed to not allow licences to transfer from drive to drive.
This prevents pirating of the software. Usually the serial keys are only allowed to be used once or possibly a certain number of times.
So in your case, you will need to find or purchase an other licence for the new hard drive.
I know it sounds like a stupid idea, but like i said, its to prevent pirating expensive software such as this.

Im not sure if there is a way to transfer the licence. Im sure if there is, it would require you to find the notepad file where it accesses adobe database to verify the licence, which is either in the program files of the software, or somewhere in the system32 file, which either way would take forever to find.
Point is, it would take a while to find unless you knew the name of the file where the licence is stored.

    did that help?
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.
