your selections are quite rough... but they are getting better, make sure you mess with the hardness of your brushes. im personally not a fan of the lasso tools. i use something called a quick mask. i have found it to be a lot easier to see what exactly im doing. heres a video that could help you out

Pretty cool, but it takes a bit more time as where the lasso tool and a soft eraser is fast. Thanks for the cool trick info, still learning the basics! CS6 is nuts with what you can do.
