Creating transparent background

So, I'm trying to take my PSD file and have it have a transparent background so as my sig there isn't a square box around it. I understand that JPEGs don't support this. I would just keep it in a PSD or TIFF but when it's hosted by flickr or other photo hosting sites the transparent background is converted into a white one.

I actually used that photo above to figure it out.

Take the PSD, change the image size to make it appropriate for the sig (500x331 except I think this is too big), then save it as a PNG, and actually upload it here to R3vlimited, then copy the image URL and it gives it a transparent background. Glad I figured it out. Photos are hard.
