I honestly don't think that E30's will ever be "dated". Yes, they'll get older, but they'll never be a "classic" BMW, they're too much of a cult car. They won't have the same following type of following as 2002's or other older classic BMW's. It's always been said since day one, and still is, that the E30 was the most over-engineered BMW to date, everything was just totally overdone and ahead of it's time. It probably happens once a week, someone asks me what year my car is, and when I tell them it's an '86, they're shocked. Most of them usually say that they would have thought it was a '91 or '92. I was reading an article in Total BMW a few years back about an AC Schnitzer replica E30, and the writer was quoted at one point in the article saying "This E30 is simply stunning, a shining example of a car BMW has yet to make again." This quote has just always stuck in my head.

Word. BMW needs to redesign their next 3er with more e30 vibe to it.

@ Eurospeed- well that would be like DA BOMB, sort of like how the new Mustang is reminiscent of the original.

Give it another ten years, when most of the beater E30s give up the ghost. The E30 will almost be as big a classic as the 2002--no other car has come close to the original 2002 formula as the E30 (maybe the E36, but it was a bigger, '90s BMW, and I doubt it will be viewed the same as the E30 ten/twenty years from now).

I doubt the E30 will be ever be worth a bunch of money (save pristine M3s), but it will be viewed as fondly as the 2002 is today.

That's very true. In another 10 years, I can easily see the E30 achieving the status that 2002's currently hold.

And Mariano, I'm right there with you.

I know this is old. I remember seeing a red vert with the Mtech rear spoiler that I really liked. I want to see it again to see if I am sure I want to buy one and get rid of the 3rd light.

Anyone have new links because the first page ones aren't working for me?
                        Thanks

I'm actually probably going to buy one of these, and just sell it on ebay when she grows out of it:
