    New Tattoo!

Still cleaning it up, vexeled for resize. 9min(ish) to sketch completion.
History of Yatagarasu ( 八咫烏 ) below if anyones interested? Yay.....

    Yatagarasu Excerpt:

A three-legged crow was generally said to be an incarnation of the sun in East Asia - for example, it appeared in a Chinese tale and in a wall painting of an ancient Korean tomb. Yatagarasu, the messenger of the gods of Kumano, is painted on the talismans (omamori) given at the juyosho and the flag of this shrine, and its three legs are said to mean heaven, earth, and mankind (tenchijin).

That's an awesome design, JD. And I like the story behind it.

You should get little cards made with that story on them, because you're going to be telling it to everyone in the world when they ask why it has 3 legs. :D

I really don't want this tattoo thread to go where others have gone.......but, I gotta wonder if the Japanese are fond of getting tattoos of profound american characters and their (allegedly) profound statements.

      I can see it now:

"Hey Kenji, check out my new tattoo"

      "What does it mean dude-san?"

"It's a famous American Icon called ButtHead- he's doing his victory dance with a mouth full of a favorite American snack food called Nachos, and he's simulating spanking his monkey all at the same time. "

"Ahh, yes, but what is the significance of this?"

"Well, the tattoo artist told me it meant Pleasure, Love and Harmony- cool huh?"

      :)

Well, considering JD's wife is Japanese (actually FROM Japan), it's probably authentic. :D

But Bret, that is fucking funny. Why can I actually see something like that happening...

lol Yeah I should get Love and Water tattoo'd on me in English,
nothing like lovewater on your back. Haha ha, neh I picked it
because of my obsession of japanese ghosts and mythos, it's
not even a commonly known legend in Japan, something I dug
              up over the years.

Besides my wife said if I tattoo'd the nekomata on my back
she'd divorce me. No words are going on me, especially with
the horrible translations I see in Japan (from english) and
all the idiots who write stupid kanji's on themselves, them find
out that they smudged a line, and what they thought said
love, now means rapist (I know the guy, you can quote me!).

The Nekomata I drew a few years ago:

I've had that picture saved on my computer since you first showed it to me like 3 years ago, JD. I love it.

lol I even gave Yumi the puppy dog eyes, I just couldn't budge her!
I still think that would'a made a badass tattoo though Josh.
